A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Well, for starters, there's the whole "rolling constitution and dexterity in one stat." I mean, seriously, while I'm perfectly okay with simplifying (or at least properly clarifying so we can finally stop having disputes whether someone is supposed to roll wisdom or intelligence), combining two of the most important stat for any character is just crazy. One Stat to Rule Them All is not a good thing.
Most powers (D&D 4e, remember?) seem to be mostly based either on singular character moments in the show or fandom memes, and leave very little room to play a character that isn't a direct expy of an already existing character, stiffling creativity. For example, basically every power on the list for Spirit of Generosity is connected to fashion in some way.
Even though it's currently v 1.16, it's far from finished, with advanced classes only available to the Spirit of Magic and Spirit of Adventure. Now, I could be mistaken, but I always assumed that 1.x sort of implied that, apart from ironing out unforeseen issues, it's basically ready for proper play.
They occasionally use the 1d3. While not completely unworkable, i's annoying.
Etc., etc., etc. It's basically a long string of poorly thought-out design decisions that is unsuited for any real roleplaying.
That seems to be a common problem in pony rpgs.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWow. Yeah. That is bad.
EDIT:
I was thinking of eventually showing stats for some characters in the show, bith as examples and for use as important NP Cs. You would certainly work for that.

Why is foal a seperate race in that system? They didn't think they could map getting cutie marks and other shenanigans with the base races? Weird.
I also see the problems with being forced to essentially play an expy of the mane six. It also has my biggest 4e pet peeve. Requiring a grid map.

In Dn D? I guess. Though one might argue that as she only turned into a human, she never learnt that extra skill.
My system doesn't have feats though. And would suck at statting something as wimpy as an Earth human. They'd almost all have ones in every physical stat except dexterity. Eh ... Then again, that's fine for NP Cs. She'd be there in her unicorn form. Though, I guess I could give alternate forms as well. I was thinking of doing the same for the Mane Six.
EDIT:
Which is really bad in an RPG.
Ugh! I hated that too. One of the biggest reasons I didn't make the switch as well. The biggest being the increased sameyness of everything. I liked diverse mechanics, huge numbers of options and a complete lack of limits!

How does Luna know what really happened at Sweetie Belle's fifth birthday party? How does she know what will happen in the future? How did she know the exact room and exact time to be in/at when Sweetie Belle grabbed the headdress? Is she omnipresent now?
This one wasn't very good.

I'm particularly fond of the Spirit of Loyalty class, one of the parts where the author decided to be creative (apart from the fact that there are apparently no Earth Ponies with the Spirit of Loyalty). Not only is it's primary stat Integrity (dexterity and constitution), meaning that it uses Integrity for attacks, Armour Class, initiative and hitpoints* , but every single time your character attacks or is attacked, regardless of whether the attack hits, you gain a momentum point. Momentum points gives you a +1 to AC, can be traded in for other bonuses like additional damage, and you can stack up 10+your level.
Since AC is apparently the only defence in the game, after a few rounds of combat, you are basically an invincible god at level 1.

RD seemed pretty good at kicking that soccer ball.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayShe can visit pony's dreams, I doubt it takes much mental manipulation and memory reading to get to where you think you need to be.
How did she read the past and future?
Magic. She's a centuries old alicorn princess, she's going to know how to do stuff. Did you have these problems when she was coming up to help Scootaloo? Maybe she just likes flying around through the night and helping ponies with their nightmares and Sweetie was on her route that week.
The Blog The ArtWhat? They don't even have NA Ds?
I figure Luna came to watch Saphire Shores to see how it would go and noticed the chase and decided to follow SB. Keep in mind that she can teleport.
