A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I was about to mention the CD-i games. I didn't know they had a nickname.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI never found the sailing in Wind Waker to be that much of an issue. Sure, there are a couple sequences in the beginning of the game that require you to sail a pretty good distance away, but once you get the ability to use cyclones to warp around, it doesn't take terribly long to get wherever you need to go.
I guess you have a different defintion of beginning. I watched a couple hours of a Let's Play and he barely sailed anywhere in that time. The only major sailing I remember was to get to the island of the bird people.

:
* Each of the Tribes has a "Gifted One", aka a "Mad One". The earth ponies have the mad scientist Artificers, the pegasi have the spirit talking and mind bending Bard/Druids and the unicorns had the simply super powered Sorcerers.
* Half of the Mane Six are Gifted, Twilight is a Sorceress, Pinkie is an Artificer and Fluttershy is a Druid. They also suffered from the requisite condition called the Madness Place, where they dip into when under stress. Twilight did it in Lesson Zero, Pinkie did it in Party Of One and Fluttershy did it sssseveral times.

* The Alicorn Amulet turns an otherwise normal pony into their tribe's Gifted. As a result, they are also sent in to the Madness Place for as long as they have it. This is what happened to Trixie.
So I watched The Maltese Falcon today. I gotta say for a work that's often cited as the grandfather of the whole Noir genre, I was expecting it to be, well, more Noir-ish. For one thing there wasn't any Private Eye Monologue, which I had assumed was a given considering the work. I guess I was expecting it to feel more gritty and pulpy, because never once did the setting feel like a seedy underbelly. The "Dame" wasn't even very sultry.
It's kind of funny how the founder of a genre is often missing some of hte classic elements of that genre.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWind Waker is my favorite as well. The sailing honestly didn't bother me that much; it was a bit fillery, but once you can warp it never takes more than a few minutes to get anywhere. The only real complaint I have about it is that the "collect the triforce maps" bit took way too long, and I've heard that the remake largely fixed that. That and I really like the art style and the gameplay. In all honesty, I enjoyed the sailing in Wind Waker a lot more than I enjoyed a lot of the backtracking in the land-based Zelda games. It just had a unique feel to it that made it feel like there was actually a world to explore rather than a bunch of connected small areas.

Yeah, I think it really helped that it's one of the games in the series that really feels like it got it's own feel rather than just being a variation on Ocarina of Time. Not that the other games aren't good, but that one in particular just stuck out to me as something different. Although it's probably also partially due to Nostalgia Filter as it was the first Zelda game I had the chance to play all the way through.
For me, nostalgia filter would apply to Links Awakening or Oracle of Seasons because those are the only ones I've ever physically played (albeit only for a couple of minutes, since it was my friends games.) But I still like Wind Waker better.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayDo you have any way of getting back together?
Also, anyone else secretly hoping that Feraligator gets released?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@CDRW: So this, basically:
Do you have a chance to see her again?

Reaction Image RepositoryHeh, reminds me of a time in port. Bunch of guys from my plant were at a strip club. (Yeah big shock) one of the guys was flirting with one of the dancers, and while she was on stage, she tossed him a key.
He was to drunk to even realize what was going on till the next morning when he actually looked at it and realized it was a key to a room in the adjoining hotel.
I guess it's true, what they say.
If it exists, there is pony of it.
(Dat finale, man. Hit me right in the feelbox.)
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

I liked Zelda II a lot, but I don't really consider it a Zelda game really. I mean, yeah, it definitely is one both technically and in feeling, but... I dunno, it actually feels more like Metroid than Zelda.
Which, if you know me, is no problem at all!
