A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Yeah, it's kinda odd how easily she did it.
Fluttershy has done a lot of booty shaking this season.

Reaction Image RepositoryTwilight is an alicorn. And nice to see the pony NES gamer.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. She did mention the Royal Sisters Castle, which I thought gave it some continuity. We know they're trying to fix up the old place, and we all know how hard Twilight Nerdasm'd in "Castle-mania". So many books. So much to read. So much off-screen time...
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!@Rhyme: I'll admit, I kinda caved in myself with my own worry there... and decided after a night of rest, that I'd finally go through with the avatar change to the pony in question.
@statement of 'shy shaking her rump more: Oh dear, is that going to become something of a running gag? Let's just hope she doesn't cut the cheese. *whacked by a cheese changeling*
So someone pointed out that Twilight's new spell
seems to have upgraded her magic aura a bit. I guess that happens when you borrow magic from Celestia's spellbook.
Magic so powerful it's white-hot?
Or maybe white magic to Sombra's Black Magic?
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. In retrospect both uses of "black magic" by Twilight were used to activate mind altering spells. I think the white magic core shows up for any use of powerful magic including extremely heavy telekinesis and transformation spells.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.
That does make sence, Givin that Twilight had a similar "magic core" when lifting the water tower, among other things.
@Kix: The problem is that when you say to such people "You know, you could probably get more of what you wanted if you weren't such a jerk about it," they insist on hearing it as "SHUT UP SHUT UP NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU" or "YEAH THAT'S RIGHT, TRY BEING POLITE TO THE BOOT ON YOUR NECK".

Regarding the accusations of "Twilight ex machina", even if the solution had come from nowhere (I'm not convinced it did) I'd say it didn't really matter. The complication itself came from nowhere, too, and the real meat of the plot was over. Getting the will to leave was the important part. The actual trip back, for the viewers, was unimportant enough that it could be brushed over with a montage.
I've noted that the peripherary demographic has been more and more terrified of the IDEA of toy plugs, as if this show will somehow go to Gen I levels of "characters only exist to sell toys" (not dissing G1 in general but a key issue was the unfocused cast due to the number of pony toys they tried to sell) despite the toyriffic nature of the show being around since Season 1 and despite the fact that the biggest toy plug this season is likely directly tied to the generally well regarded Story Arc of the season.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@Rhyme. Completely agree on both points. This is nothing compared with many other cartoons. they should see an episode of g1 and just how much merch-pushing got in the way of characterizatiion and a balanced cast. If all they can say that only one scene at the end was clearly toyetic to that degree, they've done a comendable job in writing this episode.
I forgot to mention this earlier, but the Janimals commercial reminded me of the Narwhal Song
. It's pretty much the same melody.
that janimals commercial was so out of left field. I was like "wtf they're making fursuits for kids now?"
XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!

Off-topic for a bit, is it possible to sell a novel without a plot? Or any coherence for that matter?
