A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@edvedd: Yeah, and some of the dialogue first third did feel a little forced, particularly Spike's apology. Otherwise, I really liked the episode. The Breezies were cute, but there was a point to them and they had personalities (at least Sea Breeze vs the rest). And I liked the dilemma Fluttershy went through without making anyone jerkass-ish. Okay, there was Sea Breeze, but the closing portal made it easier to stomach, and while he was a jerk, it didn't reach a point where I hated him.
As for Twilight's transformation spell, I was mostly "wow, did not expect that" than "ew, they're trying to sell me mane 6 breezies".

Yes, I certainly would, and without hesitation. Especially when I'm not the only one that's been stranded and is getting rescued. Now, if there wasn't a deadline that could cause them to be stranded for who knows how long, I can understand them taking a day or so to recharge before hitting the road again, but the episode made it look like Seabreeze was the only one who wanted to go home at all.
We're three caballeros, three gay caballeros...
Um, what kind of experiments? Actually nevermind, just put that bonesaw down...
I seem to have found a human relative to the Breezies:
@Kix: It's bad because it was suggesting that you should be moderate in your response, and that you shouldn't be an asshole to get your way.
Bear in mind it's not the rational people who are going to be complaining about that.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@Rinsankajugin It's a pride issue. I'm extremely insecure about my mental age not matching my chronological age. I can counter "IT'S FOR LITTLE GIRLS!!!1!!111ONE" with the fact that it's well-written and so much love went into making it, but I can't counter "it was made to sell toys."

Honestly the breezification didn't bother me, because the ending with the flower made more sense with Fluttershy being in their world. Otherwise it's a random flower that should have been weighing him down the whole time. Plus it's an extradimensional flower, if it was a normal flower than we'd question how it could avoid rotting long enough to be a key.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@Scol: My question is "why does it matter if it was made to sell toys so long as the end product is well made?"
@Rhyme: I think you accidentally some words there.

Reaction Image RepositorySo it's bad to be kind to ask for something? That was basically the moral in A Troll In Central Park.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justice@Japanese Teeth The logical part of me knows it shouldn't matter, but anxiety is a powerful demon.

I hate when I push the send button by accident.
And anyway "Twilight has JUST the spell the episode requires" thing isn't new. Sonic Rainboom? In fact who's to say the breezie spell isn't a powered up version of that spell.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@Kix: No. Bear in mind that this is the mindset of people who are basically using social movements to mask their desire to be unpleasant to people.
It's not bad to be kind, but those sorts of people are going to try to label it as a fallacy in order to preserve their own right to be jerks in the name of social justice.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Oh, so they wanted to say the only true justice in America is to be a dick to get your way? Yeah, not gonna happen.
It was a spell that only lasted for 5 whole minutes. Don't go theorizing stuff on us, dude.

And several fanfics. But seriously. The spell thing is not an Ass Pull. She's a librarian and borderline obsessed with studying, of course she's gonna pick up a few spells along the way.
This does raise several questions. As is the breezies weren't enough Canon Fodder.

And it's not like she's never heard of these creatures before. She had at least weeks to find the spell if she thought it could be useful.

@Scol: Why is it weird, it was always merch-driven. Just better written than most other merch-driven shows.
