A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I can agree that Twilight being able to breeziefy the cast came a bit out of nowhere, but damn if it wasn't cute enough for me to forgive it. Yes, it's obvious set up for a new toy set and no, I don't care. Everything is a set up for toys, as long as its entertaining it isn't worth stressing out over, but some people are like on the lookout for anything that could be turned into a figure and instantly declaring it sucks.
@Irish well think about it. You found yourself stranded on an island with a huge mansion and most every luxury available and someone to take care of you. Then you receive news that someone was going to rescue you. Would you actually want to go back to a relatively boring non-pampered life?
That's (a probably crappy allegory for) what the breezies sans Sea Breeze likely felt at Fluttershy's cottage.
OK, some of the exposition was a tiny bit clunky, but that's all I give.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI think one criticism I have for the episode is I fail to see how turning the Mane Six into Breezies helped. Wasn't the problem is there were too few of them to make the right breeze? How did adding six more help? Should I stop thinking too hard about children's shows and enjoy the cuteness?
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!@Dark: I know what you mean, but I will say it's a little different. Most of the stuff the adult fanbase buys is "the made toys of stuff that we told them we liked", like Derpy, Octavia, and Vinyl. People don't mind buying that stuff because it's buying merch of characters that we want stuff of. Whereas the show generally comes at it from the opposite side: creating toys and then putting them into the show to try to get people to buy them.
It's less hypocrisy and more "stop trying to sell me things that you're shoehorning in and give me more merch of the stuff I already like". Which is entitled and rude, but not hypocritical.
Also,
Breezies are biologically a One-Gender Race and simply choose what gender they want to be referred to as
It would explain why Seabreeze is referred to as male despite not having any differentiation from the others and can still have a wife and kid.

Reaction Image RepositoryI like how they were setting up Pinkie to ruin things, but she didn't.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectOn a side note, I thought Time Turner and Roseluck together in "Flight to the Finish" was a coincidence, but now I'm convinced DHX ships Time/Luck. Sorry, Derpy/Doctor shippers.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!the problem was that there were too few breezies to spread the breeze between.
XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!@Ace: Exactly. Bronies want Hasbro to make toys and merch of popular characters in the show; Vinyl, Octavia, Lyra, Coco, etc. Whereas Hasbro creates new toys and wants to put them in the show so they'll sell that way. Both sides think that they should control what toys get developed.
@Ed: yeah, it's like they knew what effect "Filli Vanilli" would have. Spike kinda got thrown under the bus for it though.

Reaction Image Repository@Cal: Actually I think the idea is that when there were more o them the breeze was spread out so it didn't affect them as much. So the mane six added more breezies to spread it out and make things easier.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@JT: Still waiting on some of the Cybertron Wars Game series transformers to get their Deluxe or Voyager action figures. Also a Vinyl Scratch set with a mini turntable that is cross-compatible with the Cybertron Wars 'disc' cassette doods.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!@Calnois yes. And as for the +6 question, the Breezies are smaller and lighter than the ponies (they couldn't be lifted by the breeze otherwise) and I'm pretty sure 6 extra ponies couldn't weight sown thw swarm that much (Also It was Flitter and another Pegasus supplying the wind, not Dash or all three at once. That might had been a factor, but that would like beg the "Why didn't Flitter or Thunderlane step down?" question).

I'd rather the show not ever be Merchandise-Driven, but I really don't care in the long run, as long as the show is still good.
It feels 100x more awkward to watch MLP knowing it's Merchandise-Driven.

I still don't understand. Is it bad because you were cruel to be kind or bad because they were taking advantage of her? I honestly find half this fandom IS a Broken Base.

If its based on a line of toys, being Merchandise-Driven is inevitable, for its mere existence shows the toys to the audience. I believe that Merchandise-Driven stuff can do well, but Sturgeon's Law and some ethical/moral complaints led to that stigma.
