A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules

Yeah, Tumblr is really kind of an echo chamber that can't do a whole lot outside the site. What do we think is going to piss them off this time?
Tone Policing.
The actual definition of this is a fallacious argument along the lines of 'you can catch more flies with honey' - basically, someone who is tone policing is saying that you have to be nice to someone while you're arguing with them even if you're arguing for something like, say, your basic rights. Which is of course wrong; as the episode shows there's some times you simply have to get firm with people and let niceness fall by the wayside in favour of kindness.
The problem is, a lot of (The really, really BAD) Social Justice types on tumblr are people who are basically just using their social movement of choice as an excuse to bully people in a socially acceptable way, and will basically call Tone Policing anytime anyone suggests, "Hey, maybe don't be an asshole?". So this episode is probably gonna cause a bit of a tiff with them, since, you know... being an asshole was demonstrated to be the wrong thing to do.

Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@JT: Nightmare Rarity has a darker coat.
Those 3-D glasses!
This needs to be on the Shoutouts.
Oh, Rarity, put the spray away :V
OK, enough of all that.
I'm just wondering why I'm reading comments elsewhere that called this episode bad? I legitimately don't get that.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectApparently the ending reeked too much of G3, edvedd. Dialogue felt forced, and the plot resolution came right out of the blue.

Well my current feeling of G3 were kinda meh. And the Breezies having a pocket dimension to themselves isn't that far-fetched (See the CGI Tinkle Bell movies and most anything involving The Fair Folk)

I didn't even THINK about the transformation. If that of all things spoiled it then I don't even know.

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider! That's because people complain about everything. The main complaint seems to be that the whole "turning the cast into breezies" wasn't a good way to resolve the plot, since there was no foreshadowing for it and it seems to have been done solely for the novelty of breezifying the cast. Which I can kinda understand, but I don't think it detracted all that much. Basically, people think that a lot of the breezie stuff felt shoehorned. I.e. they just show up out of nowhere at the beginning, and the plot is resolved with a spell that wasn't hinted at existing. And I can kinda see it, but I thought it was amusing enough not to ruin the episode. Though the stuff in the middle with Seabreeze and Fluttershy was probably best part.

Reaction Image RepositoryI can certainly see the argument that the resolution felt a bit Twilight-ex-machina. That breezie spell and all.
Of course looking at it Doylistically, it was done so that they could get to the breezy kingdom and Fluttershy could get her key - and we could get a new playset. The pegasi could have easily been written to be capable of helping out the breezies in time.
But to be honest part of me thinks no matter how well written it was people would be inclined to complain, just because it's probably the most blatantly marketable episode of the season(Though perhaps not the show to date. Canterlot Wedding is certainly a rival there, as is The Crystal Empire). Not that I find that a bad thing, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of some.

AND IT WAS ADORABLE DAMMIT

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI didn't particularly like or dislike this episode. On the one hand, some of the gags were pretty funny (Rarity can shine like the sun!), and Seabreeze was my kind of guy (though seriously, What the Hell Is That Accent?? Scottish? Swedish? Minnesotan?).
On the other, most of the first half didn't really have anything interesting happen, and it was obvious from the outset that the Breezies likely wouldn't be able to get home if they stuck around, which to me made Fluttershy look somewhat greedy (it wasn't until later in the episode that it was apparent to me the Breezies weren't being kept there by Fluttershy, and instead were just putting off their journey home, but that just changes it to look like they don't care about going home).

@Kegisak: Yeah, most of the complaints seem to boil down to that people think that the episode forced some plot elements for the sake of "selling" the breezies, and honestly I can understand where they're coming from. I just don't think it was as detrimental to the overall quality of the episode as the "WORST EPISODE EVER" crowd makes it out to be. Narratively, I do kinda think the resolution would've been stronger if the breezies had just continued on normally rather than going the transformation route, but the spell was pretty adorable.
I'm not really sure what to think of this one. I definitely enjoyed it how they handled the moral, but the plotting felt a bit uneven. The whole "one leaf disrupts the whole migration" was a bit odd, and like others have said, the ending, while cute, had felt like it came out of nowhere.

@Ace: I dunno, looks a bit more like Nightmare Rarity
from the comics to me.
