A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

This is an outrage!
I would NEVER wear a boring old WHITE sports bra!
... but the heart-print boxers, those are totally on the table?

Every other Pony represensts casual racers.
Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash, however, represents hardcore racers.
Well, that's what I thought.
And now I have "Duck Tales" stuck in my head again. Great.
But yeah, history is pretty awesome, and it's really useful for learning how humans think, at least once you dig into understanding why things actually happen the way that they did.
Reaction Image RepositoryWow, people have started making fan music for Twitch Plays Pokemon
. Also YES, Whirlwind replaced with Sky Attack! And Focus Energy has been replaced by Strength!
Also, I agree history is useful, even if I'm not particularly interested in it myself.

That's pretty much how I feel about math. It's obviously useful, but I don't find it very interesting.

Reaction Image Repositoryi got my days mixed up and thought today was Saturday.
Saturday is New Pony Episode Day! Sunday is Complaining about New Pony Episode Day!
If it were Saturday, I would have been at work this morning.
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615q@NES Just finished Disc 1 of the 2nd season of Adventure Time. I'm going to try and watch the rest of the 3rd season of Regular Show.
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qI'm working on Saturday so I'll be lucky if I can see the episode before I start at 10.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Sometimes I wonder whether that just comes from not being introduced to math properly. Then again, I suppose a similar argument could be made for history.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayUsually, after work, I go to the library and get the new episode off youtube.

I don't think he meant authors will do that, rather that all of those features are there if an author wants to use them for one reason or another.
For example Mike Mignola, while writing Hellboy, will often use cultural or historical features and figures even when they don't feature hugely into the story itself, and the story itself is wholly unique. For example, there's a story in Hellboy where Hellboy is wandering around the Mexican Desert hunting a posse of monsters, and he winds up teaming up with a trio of Luchadors of all things - Luchadors who had been told by god to fight the monsters, but Luchadors nonetheless.
In many other stories, small time historical figures - mostly saints and tyrants, the kinds of people with nasty histories you could expect to leave behind ghosts - are used to lend a sense of realism. The stories are fantastic, but they take place in real places and are centred among real people, which makes the whole affair feel a bit different then if it was entirely fabricated.
EDIT: Ninjad by the man himself.
