A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

There are plenty of games with tons of endings, though I'm not familiar with any that have 20. Many of them are just Have a Nice Death or Non-Standard Game Over, although I already found one death that doesn't even count as an ending. Also, I just found ending 2. So 14 to go. I think I'll try playing through the game seriously but doing the opposite of what I did when I had time. The bad endings are a lot easier to get than the good ones for obvious reasons.
Incidently, it's kind of funny/sad that the easiest way to be successful in this game is to be a dick to everyone as much as possible. For example, until the blue stamp comes out, you're best off just rejecting everyone the second you see a mistake instead of giving them a chance to clarify or correct the issue. Unless it's a detainable mistake and you're hoping to detain them if you press them, but that takes a while.
Edit: So far, the endings I've found are run out of money, have entire family die, killing the EZIC informant, detaining Shae on day 25, sticking around to get executed for helping EZIC, and escaping to Oberstan leaving family behind. Of those 6, only one is remotely positive, though admittedly, the bad endings are easier to find.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI'm not sure what to think of him. He's cool I guess? I was more wondering if he was a metaphor for nuclear fallout.
Anyway, time to watch Howls Moving Castle. I've been inspired to try watching them all after listening to Ghibli music online.
Edit: Wow, the castle must have been a nightmare to animate.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayOkay, what seems more likely- a swarm of bees flying fast enough to catch up with Dash or Fluttershy, or having it follow them back to Fluttershy's cottage?
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Bluhhhh, stuck at work for two hours later than normal dealing with crap that won't work.
Those breezies are kind of adorable. Fluttershy should braid some into her mane and bring them home with her.
I've played a bit of Papers, Please, but I'm only on day 4. I'm too much of a perfectionist, any time I screw up more than once I start the day over.

Yeah, they still look pony-ish, but alien enough to be interesting. Little mini-plushes of them would be adorable.
Congratulations...?
Okay, watching "Holly Jolly Secrets" now. Let's see if it's as good as everybody makes it out to be.
Reaction Image RepositoryReading Heavenly Nostrils, since its been brought up so much lately. Man,some of
these references
are pretty on the nose.
Has anybody ever slowed down the fast forwarded section of the episode to see if he was actually saying something?
Reaction Image RepositoryI went through Derpibooru, found every picture with Rainbow Dash in glasses and tagged them Rainbow Dork.
I've apparently been barred from adding tags that don't already exist to Derpi images. I had to log out in order to christen the coughing seedling from Twilight Time "Drama Seedling". Once I did that, I was able to label a couple of other images as such while I was logged in normally, then others started using the tag as well.
Buck you too, Derpi.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Yes.
Ice King is weird. Includes the second one.

animal-lovingDoug Walker asked the same thing in his vlog of the episode. The comments section was quick to provide:
Y'know, diary, I've been meaning to tell you something insanely private...I'm serious, I.....I...love...to...GRR RR! Fill my bathtub full of milk and sit in it like I'm a magic angel! There, I said it. My, the milk is dense. But when I poke my little toes up from the milk, it startles me, but I giggle! I giggle, diary. I get cold toes, but I giggle! And then I fall asleep, and the milk curdles and I get all stinky and sticky. Disgusting, diary, I'm disgusting! I'm disgusting...I'm disgusting and I smell like curdled milk! Okay, so anyway, back to the Turtle Princess.
I can see why they fast forwarded that.
EDIT: Aaaaand the snowman thing backfired.
EDIT 2: And now he's doing his own version of Marceline's song.
EDIT 3: Finished it. Going to just crosspost my reaction from the Adventure Time thread:
Okay, that was really interesting. It definitely gives the Ice King a lot more depth, and really establishes how freaky the setting can be (as if the Lich didn't already) and sheds a lot of light on the character as a whole. His descent into madness was portrayed really well. My only real complaint with it is that the reveal could've been more effective if it hadn't rolled by so fast. It felt like there wasn't enough time to let the gravity of his situation really sink in before it switched back to comedy mode. But still, it's really heavy for a kids' show and really makes you rethink the character. I just wish that his descent into insanity had gotten a little more focus rather than having the majority of the episode be "Ice King acts like a doofus in his video diary".
Though it probably would've hit me harder if the whole deal wasn't like one of the first things I knew about the show.

Oh, I'm aware of that, but to hear everybody talk about it, one would expect that they somehow crammed the entirety of Grave Of The Fireflies into the episode or something. It was well-done, no doubt, especially for tackling such a subject in a kids' show, but it's not exactly the most tear-jerking thing ever put on screen either. It's not so much the amount of material as that they went through it in like three minutes rather than letting it sink in more slowly. If they would've given the viewer a minute or two to really absorb what just happens rather than jumping straight back into comedy, it would've been even more of a gut punch.
EDIT: And to keep this relevant to the thread.

Reaction Image RepositoryThat episode was paced really weird, because I was sort of bored for the first half of it. I do think the reveal works the way it is, because it just sort of jumps out and punches you in the gut then ducks away. Although the effect might be spoiled a bit by going in knowing what's coming, since when you're expecting it you do think it will be longer.

Yeah, if there's one complaint I have with the episode, it's that the entire first two thirds of it was honestly kinda boring. Most of the Ice King's video diaries weren't particularly interesting, and the setup of how they got the tapes and all the shenanigans with the Ice King trying to break in weren't particularly amusing either. There were definitely some good jokes (Ice King impaling the apple on his nose, BMO's car alarm), but the whole thing just felt really stretched. Like they could've made it a normal length episode and really not lost a whole lot of the impact.
I can kinda see that, but I'm really not the best one to say, given that I was fully aware of what was coming. It would work a lot better if you don't know the twist going in. Basically forcing the audience into a double-take.
And yeah, I'm not saying the reveal was bad or anything, just that going into it how I did, it didn't hit quite as hard as I would've expected. That's probably my own fault for looking up spoilers, though. My only real complaint is that the episode felt rather padded.

Reaction Image RepositoryI finished the BEES story! Anyone care to read it and see if it's good enough to go on Fimfiction?
