A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

Maybe.

The realness of Hobbes is highly debatable throughout the comic. At one point I figured the fact that Hobbes is always a stuffed tiger whenever anyone else is around meant that he was imaginary, but then I remembered he occasionally does stuff like tying Calvin to a chair, or legitimately roughing Calvin up...

Apparently the actual intention was to make it as vague as possible, I think.

Maybe Calvin tied himself to a chair and made it look like Hobbes was beating him up

i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apart

The beating up, maybe, but it'd be pretty hard to tie yourself to a chair. Like, it was a Snidely Whiplash, ropes-all-around-the-body-and-arms kinda tie.

wild mass guess There's really two Calvin and Hobbes comics, one with an actual tiger Hobbes, and another one with a stuffed animal Hobbes. Watterson sometimes gets his panels mixed up. wild mass guess

[up] Ironic, coming from a talking animal. tongue

Although if you want to get really technical, humans could be considered talking animals too.

If you're taking that stance, then all species on earth are "evolved." That's kind of how it works.

[up][up] I'm guessing that the Breezies were Butt Monkies in G3 or there are bad puns about them being breezy. That of they find Humor insensitive.

@Thunders: Consider unit placement. Some pieces will be more useful depending on their location. Pegasi tend to cover more spaces when placed closer towards the center of the board. Unicorns work better in the back while having a long diagonal line to control over. Pawns are your stone wall. Make sure you don't leave a pawn without backup unless you absolutely need to. Can't say I know a lot when using Earth Ponies.

Now, these are just suggestions and aren't true all the time. Sometimes, having a Pegasus at the edge of the board is the better option, for example.
