A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@Kayeka: That's basically how I feel about it. It would be cool to go pick up some swag, but I can't imagine it holding my interest for more than a day or so. It probably doesn't help that I wouldn't really be very interested in a lot of the panels; I honestly don't care much to see any of the fan-based stuff, so I'd basically be milling around looking at figures I can't afford for hours while waiting for the next VA or Writer panel.
Reaction Image RepositoryI'd probably try talking to people since I do make an effort to be social. It just doesn't come naturally.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, the Kindle has far too much flash, so I have to darken it with ink. Still, My OCs lonely.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceAnyway, more good news. We just sold a $300 dresser, and I have an interview on Monday!!
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/He probably means a tablet kindle not an ereader kindle.
Something I've just started wondering - which of the mane 6 might play chess? From a Doylist perspective, it's most likely that only Twilight does, but Smart People Play Chess annoys me. RD is competive but would skip it due to the perception of it being for eggheads. Rarity maybe?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAside from the obvious answer that Twilight might play chess, I could imagine Rarity liking the game because it involves being very visual and spatial, which would be skills she already has with her fashion design, plus it has kings and queens so she might think of it as being a high-class game.
@conventions: I usually go to Anime Central every year. It's a place where sometimes it's easier for me to be in a crowd because it's a situation where there's things I like that I can focus on, although sometimes if I don't want or need to talk to people I can use my headphones. Notably enough, the last two times I went there were lots of pony cosplayers too, along with pony fanworks and dolls in the artists' section. Which was fun because I don't think any of the pony cons are near where I live, plus my parents are both more familiar with MLP than most anime besides Sailor Moon so there would be more characters they would recognize, but I thought it was surprising since My Little Pony is an American cartoon, not a Japanese cartoon. Maybe it's because there's a big overlap between the pony fandom and the anime fandom.

@Story: I could see RD being into it once she gets over the initial "It's for eggheads" perception. Pinkie lacks the focus for it. Rarity, Fluttershy, and AJ might be, but aside from Rarity liking the "cultured" aspect of it, I can't imagine them really having much reason to get into it.
Reaction Image RepositoryOkay. Apparently the interview, at 10 AM Monday, is 3 hours away.
... Well.
Still hoping for the best.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I'm now imagining a story where Rainbow finds out Twi's an accomplished chess champion and starts learning the basics to become a hardcore player and beat the national competition. starting in Ponyville as she beats the regulars and eventually moves up to the Canterlot rounds against Twi, big Mac, Fancypants, and Derpy.

You know, come to think of it, a con of any kind would be a great place to get all sorts of cool items like figures and posters. That's something that I'd probably enjoy browsing for.
For an hour or so. After that, I'd have to get home to get away from all the noises, smells and colours. Dense crowds and classic autism do not blend well.
