A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Pokemon really was the perfect choice on so many levels.

It really is.

Would be great if they were to actually use it

That's rather unlikely. I don't think they'll brave the Dread PC for anything short of Lapras.

Anyway, looks like they made it past the final grass patch, so no more danager of running out of balls. Should be smooth sailing from here.

Technically, the end would be defeating the Elite Four and the Champion. Which is possible, although my guess is that they'll get there largely by grossly overlevelling one or two pokemon rather than by using any coherent strategy.

Which is pretty much how they've been progressing so far.

Really, I think if they can just manage to obtain Lapras without releasing anyone important, they should be able to handle the rest of the game.

Since Pokemon is a kids game it shouldn't be possible for there to be a Permanent Game Over, so the main questions is attrition, I think: Will people just get sick of it before it finishes?

Actually in Gen 1 and to a lesser extent Gen 2, there are quite a few ways to get an Unwinnable State, largely due to oversight in the design or the implicit assumption that noone would be that stupid. It wasn't until Gen3 that they started adding Obvious Rule Patches for those.

Twitch Plays Pokemon is hilarious in concept and execution [lol] letting several thousand 'players' argue over the controller is a recipe for endless comedy, also mwahahahahaaaaa the trope pages for it [lol]

They did it! They got the Golden Teeth!

Now, on the the next big obstacle: Silph Co. at least, I think that's next. It's been years since I last played this.

GOLD TEETH GET! Now we just need HM 04.

Any bets on whether they'll go after Mewtwo after beating the champion?

Doubt it. They're much more likely to accidently toss their master ball anyway.

I pretty much lost interest myself, because when I jumped in, they were stuck running back and forth between the elevator and a lounge type area over and over for 20 minutes.

It helps if you either get lucky or follow the live updates so you only have to watch during the exicting parts.

2) Gotta catch 'em ALL.

You don't have to, unless you are hopelessly mad or happen to be locked in a dungeon with nothing but a pokemon game.

@Kuroi: It's really something you just check back on every few hours. Nobody wants to actually sit down and watch the whole thing for more than a few minutes. It's just that the utter absurdity of wasting half a day trying to walk past a ledge or accidentally releasing the party members you were trying to put on your team is hilarious. Basically, watching the thing itself is kinda boring. Reading the summary of events after the fact is great. Ready the Epic Fail page for the LP to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

@Story: My guess is that they'll take 8 hours to reach Mewtwo, only to dig out of the dungeon. Then they make their way back to him, only to run away from the battle 2 turns in.

@Lumi: I did that once for Black 2 (thanks to Old Save Bonus exploitation of my previous game carts) and I just did it last week for X again (Old Save Bonus FTW)

@Syd: Might be a server hiccup.

Now, on the the next big obstacle: Silph Co. at least, I think that's next.

It really depends on how you define obstacle. In this case, actually beating the trainers will be easy. The hard part will be clearing a space for Lapras without releasing anyone important.

Also, the democracy lasted a whole 3 minutes and 20 seconds after getting surf. I'm impressed, though it's more a testement to how slow the ticker moves, even with near unaminity. Also, they've got 144 steps left to play with. Lets see what the anarchists make out of it.

Yeah, the trainers themselves aren't as big of a problem as they'd appear to be on paper, with lv45 Pidgeot and all.

Yeah. I guess I was just hoping to catch the weird stuff in action like releasing the Pokemon or teaching inappropriate moves to random Pokemon.

I've got interesting moments by chance quite a few times (both battles with Giovanni, teaching Drowzee Psychic, catching X and beating Pokemon tower). You just have to keep checking back periodically and get lucky.

with lv45 Pidgeot

Level 54 now, actually.

Question: It looks like we're getting an upcoming episode for Apple Bloom and one with Sweetie Belle. And I guess Flight to the Finish focused on Scootaloo to some extent. Is this the first season where we've gotten individual focus episodes for all the CMC? We got one here and there in previous seasons, but they usually come in a group.

Or am I just imagining things.

Sisterhooves Social was a bit SB centric and Co C and Cutie Pox cenetered about AB. I guess SIP counts for Scootaloo.

Also, they found Tm32 (Double Team). I wonder who they'll waste it on. That's the move considered so broken it's banned in comepetitive play, or so I've heard. Of course in a game like this, it's a bad idea because you just want as many damaging moves as possible. Overwriting Pidegeot's Quick Attack for instance would be a disaster.

Also, Pidgeot got a serious nerf in the battle against Koga: spamming A will no longer use Gust, but Mirror Move. I think the trainers will, in fact, prove quite troublesome.
