A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

The only Super Hero movies I'm really into are Batman films {Except for the terrible Joel Schumacher movies}, though I did really enjoy Man Of Steel and the Captain America movie, and I'm considering checking out the first two Christopher Reeves Superman movies.
Batman The Movie is an unappreciated cinematic gem.

You should; they're really good.
Best Batman movie. Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.
Question about the Health Bubble. Did Cadacne cast it around Discord at the end? If so, I guess it works in both directions then.
I think my favorite was the first Iron Man movie. Of course, The Dark Knight rises is pretty good too.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI can understand preferring the shows to the comics, the continuity is... Difficult.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/How about that one that was set in the future with Batman being the apprentice of the original Batman?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@story: I think Cadance only casted the health bubble around her and Twilight. I think the bubble at the very end wasn't actually magical, just something Discord conjured up or Fluttershy had because... she's Fluttershy?
On the subject of Batman: My brother showed me Brave and the Bold. I wrote it off as too campy and now I've realized how wrong I was.
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkIt wasn't as awful in comparison because the other two weren't amazing towering golden masterpieces with platinum moustaches.
They were overwritten, barely visual messes that threw Show, Don't Tell into a trash can so hard, the can exited from the other side of the planet into space.
At least the plot holes weren't nearly as bad. Though I did scream at Batman for being a colossal idiot during the climax of Batman Begins.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayGwen- when it comes to superheroes there's no such thing as being too campy.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/you're thinking of Batman Beyond. great show, that is.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.@story: yes. campy Large Ham. and it was glorious.
Oh, they were. Typically at the climax. The end of Dark Knight, for example, when for some reason they can't have Harvey Dent denounced like most other authority figuers were in Gotham for years anyway, but the man who was actually established to give Gotham hope can. Because apparently people would lose all their hopes if a lawyer turns out bad, but Batman turning out bad, no, that's no problem at all.
But they are not the reason I don't like those movies. Most movies have plot holes, some movies have plot holes that are so big the rest of the movie is held by duct tape and denial, but, those movies would still be better than this.
These movies are a step backward for movies in general. Movies are supposed to be a visual art, with combination of what you see, hear, and what characters say providing the experience. Not exclusively what the characters say, say, say, and would never shut up about. All the "deep philosophy" the movies had is merely discussed. It isn't shown, it isn't utilized, it's just talked about with a pretentious hope the viewers will mistake that for depth.
So when the third movie runs out of pretend philosophy to talk about and has to recycle it, the truth about how not really good they were in the first place stands out more.
@Luminosity: the Nolan movies were quite chatty, weren't they?
@Crimson
Yup, they were. They were so desperate that the viewer might not get their "depth", so they talked on and on about it instead of actually having any depth.
It's like many videogames of today sharply reducing interactivity until it's nothing but set pieces and quick time events, because it doesn't know most people playing games are self-aware human beings with a bigger attention span than 1.2 seconds.
@Lum: This should answer your questions about the ending of The Dark Knight.
Also I really don't think the Nolan movies are that bad.

Honestly, I'm more interested in superhero cartoons rather than the comic canon. Justice League and Teen Titans were both really good, imo.
