A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

In general, I feel like too many movies tend to cram too much in. I mean, I get that everybody thinks the idea of Batman and Superman teaming up is awesome, but it rarely turns out well in a non-serial medium because there's just no time to address everything.
Reaction Image RepositoryIs there one after the Amazing Spiderman?
You're referring to Spider Man 3, I assume? I'm glad I skipped that one.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI liked the Ang Lee Hulk.
I don't think it was good, and I liked the second much better, but I thought it was a noble failure if nothing else.
no, I meant The Amazing Spiderman. I never got around to seeing it when it came out.

Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Hey. Just got back from the skills assessment, and getting an application in at walmart. Fuck, the computers there are terrible. It hurt my hands to use it after a while. Now I'm gonna see if I can finish the questionnaire at home.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@Ike: Hopefully it'll work out for you.
@Crow: Yeah, that's pretty much a lost cause given how popular the Dark Knight Trilogy was. Good luck following up on that.

I'm talking about the movies in general. Whatever you think of Christian Bale's performance, the movies were staggeringly popular and well-received, and attempting to follow it up is going to be hard.
@Dark: That's one of the reasons I haven't bothered getting around to watching The Avengers yet (I know, I know, heresy, get off the internet, go watch it NAOW); I feel like I'd have to go back and watch Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Incredible Hulk in order to really appreciate it, and I'm honestly not that interested in all of those.

Reaction Image RepositoryExcept for the third.
Which is odd, because I didn't find it much different from the second. Perhaps that just means I didn't find the second all that great, I dunno.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.
It is definitely the weakest of the three, although I don't think it's as awful as a lot of people make it out to be. But anyway, the point is that the whole set is going to cause a big Tough Act to Follow moment for any subsequent films.

Reaction Image RepositoryI didn't watch any of those movies and I still appreciated it. AFAIK, the only references to previous movies are that the mcguffin and some of the minor characters made cameos in previous movies.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play
Yeah, but even so, the fact that it shares the universe makes me feel like I ought to. It's weird.
Well you don't. Just go ahead and watch the Avangers.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayHave you read Worm?
I saw the beginning of Thor and it didn't really seem that interesting.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI'm busy with part five of Worm. I'm enjoying it.
I haven't seen The Avengers.
I'm not hugely into superhero stuff. I never followed comics. But I do like a lot of it anyway and I have grown to like it more over time.

@Story More like Ang "Bore the living fuck outta us" Lee. Seriously he makes a movie about THE HULK but the Hulk doesn't even show up for HALF OF THE MOVIE!
