A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Well, most therapists do have therapists - if only because listening ot people's problems all day is heavy stuff.
Also, is it just me or does it seems like Rarity is rapidly becoming the one holding Pinkie's leash, as it were? Maybe it's just her proximity to Fluttershy but she seemed to be the one doing most of the direct admonishing of Pinkie Pie in FV, and there was the whole Dodge ordeal in The Last Roundup. Though the one may have lead to the other, come to think of it.

Ah, my bad.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Pinkie described Fluttershy's stage fright perfectly! How can she "not understand it"?
Even if she didn't, when Fluttershy was hurt, it was her responsibility to find out why and fix it! That's what a good friend does! That's what Twilight would have done!
I don't expect them to be perfect, but I expect better from them than to pull the kind of emotionally abusive junk that my step-mother pulled on me! Fluttershy doesn't pull stuff like that! The only time she came close was in Putting your Hoof Down, where, incidently, she was right!
Rarity is rapidly becoming the one holding Pinkie's leash
Kinky.
^ There's a difference between being able to understand something from an academic perspective, and being able to empathize with it. Pinkie understands stagefright like a vampire understands the flavor of garlic. Yeah, they can regurgitate a description, but they don't know what it's like to actually experience it, so they don't fully appreciate what it means to someone who is experiencing it.

RIP Helix God
You know, the first time I saw someone on Facebook post 'Jay Leno and Aby NOOOOOOOO', I had no clue what they were talking about.
^No, not really.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI guess it depends. For Sereg it seems to touch a nerve (and that's justified, considering his situation), and for others it's less of an issue.
If you didn't quite like her more overbearing behaviour in the Cranky episode, this is a somewhat lesser version of that.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI might be mistaken, but I was under the impression that it's illegal for a therapist to not have their own therapist.
Then why does she bother saying it? Even if that were true, it does not negate the rest of what I said.
And no, it is not "lesser" than A Friend in Deed. In A Friend in Deed, Pinkie actually tried to fix the problem, which was why I was so impressed. I always thought that Pinkie was too selfish to put effort into something like that. Here, she doesn't even care that she's hurting Fluttershy!
EDIT: @Mio: It happene more than once. In her defence, one of the things she said was funny. And I don't actually find Pinkie funny most of the time. And the rest of the episode was amazing. To me. So there's a good chance you won't like it.

Pinkie did try to correct herself near the end, she just didn't do it very well. Rarity should always stand by with a rolled up paper just in case.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWell I suppose that's as good a metric as any. Though if I were being I've been really uninterested in the past few and upcoming episodes so I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching them. Which given my usual reactions should be really unsurprising.
Also, Donkey'd is a thing?
Well that doesn't say very good things about Pinkie if she has to be treated like a dog in order to take a hint.
I don't see how anything he said counts as fanon/headcanon.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!@Sereg: That's the entire point of Pinkie's problem: she's trying to be encouraging and complimentary, but has so little understanding of what stage fright actually feels like that she makes it worse.
Kegisak basically hit the nail on the head. From Pinkie's perspective, there's no logical reason for Fluttershy to be scared because 1. Fluttershy is good at what she does and everyone likes it and 2. Fluttershy's already done performing by this point. Fluttershy already performed and succeeded, so Pinkie sees no reason for Fluttershy to be scared.
Also, everybody keeps bringing up the "But she knew not to prank Fluttershy!" thing, and I don't think it quite applies. Here's why:
Pinkie knows that pranks are basically designed to make somepony else look ridiculous, if only a little bit. As such, she only targets ponies who she knows won't mind looking stupid in front of others, and tries to adjust her pranks to the appropriate ridiculousness level. Pinkie understand that Fluttershy doesn't handle that well, so she avoids pranking her. But here's the key: she only recognizes that Fluttershy reacts badly to negative attention. She knows not to make Fluttershy look bad in front of other ponies, and because pranks generally make the victim look like a bit of a fool.
However, in this situation, all the attention Fluttershy has been receiving is positive. Pinkie assumes "Oh hey, everypony loved her! There's no problem here!" and makes a big deal out of it, not realizing that for someone as introverted as Fluttershy whether the attention is positive or negative doesn't matter. Pinkie can grasp that it's not fun to be laughed at, but she doesn't get that some ponies don't like being applauded either. She thinks it's awesome that everyone likes Fluttershy's performance and just doesn't get that to Fluttershy it doesn't matter and she doesn't want to be in the spotlight at all.
Also, I watched the twitch pokemon stream again and they're still stuck in the Rocket HQ.
Reaction Image RepositoryAssuming they can, you know, get out of the Rocket HQ. They've been there for almost a full day now.
Reaction Image RepositoryThis week, we're getting some quality Twilight Time. I don't see this ending badly.
AJ hasn't gotten her key episode yet, has she? I wanna see some actual Honesty shenanigans.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectOh wow, I forgot the Safari Zone is mandatory. Yeah, they're doomed.
