A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I still think we shouldn't have gotten rid of The Mario. That one was totally unfair. It had already been upheld multiple times, and in that last vote, it was still going to stay until someone got a bunch of friends from offsite to vote.
Also, I don't really miss dull, nondescriptive names like The Kimberly, but I do miss some of hte ones that had clever puns, like The Koyabshi Mario.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@50240: Why haven't I copied that "trying to get on the tumblr" image yet?
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Here you go. It's one of the ones I have saved.
I feel like I'm the only pegasister who is actually enjoying season 4. I've seen some fans of the show complaining about it being "too dry." Okay, I'll admit I don't like every episode of this season because I find some of them boring, but here are the episodes I enjoyed so far.
- Rainbow Falls
- Rarity Takes Manehattan
- Daring Don't
- Filli Vanilli
- Pinkie Pride
- Power Ponies
- Flight To The Finish

Huh. that's kind of an interesting argument. Are you pro, or con hiring smokers?
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Well, I'm fairly certain not hiring them would be discriminatory. There's no reason the company has to cater to them and allow smoking areas or breaks for it, which is technically a separate issue, but they can do it at home on their own time. Which is already how it works for people who drink alcohol. They can do it and work for a company, but they can't drink on the job.
On a personal level I'm against smoking. But that's not really the issue here. A company "shouldn't" hire on a basis of smoking versus nonsmoking, it should hire based on the ability to do the job.
(My apologies)

http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@Ike: While I'm mostly inclined to agree, and while it's true that legally a company doesn't have to give smoking breaks, it's fairly common practice, so not doing it can make a company look pretty bad for prospective employees - even non-smoking ones who are used to the idea of smokers getting breaks. Word can spread about the company being a bad place to work for or being too stringent...
On the other hand, if it comes up during the interview that an employee smokes, and the company takes that into consideration, and you happen to have a candidate with the same qualifications who doesn't smoke and therefore won't have an issue with it, well, the game is kind of stacked, isn't it? Which is by no means a fair hiring practice, but hiring practices rarely are, in my experience.
There's also the chance that a smoker could be disruptive in a few subtle ways - the smell of smoke that clings to them could bother other employees, and they might have a cough that would be annoying. So while I agree it's discriminatory not to hire someone simply because they smoke, from an employers perspective I also understand why a smoker is not really an ideal employee.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. You could also have a workplace that bans smoking entirely. Meaning smokes would have issues.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@93: 7 episodes out of 14 is basically half the season. Season 4 is doing quite well then.

...aaaaaand this quote is going on my tumblr "to do" list.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Speaking of hiring practices, is anyone else annoyed by personality quizzes that some companies give before you even get an interview? I'm not talking about skill assessments, I'm talking about things like asking your opinion on teamwork and safety regulations. While I get that both of those are important (obviously), why can't they just ask a few things about it in an interview? The quizzes make me feel like the company doesn't care about any applicants unless they're perfect obedient drones.

Oh man, I remember Super Grape. We had some really absurd trope names back in the day. I actually think I might predate YKTTW on this site.
