A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I wonder which princess's hair they'll get: Slime Princess or Wildberry Princess. Or perhaps Lumpy Space Princess.
Oh wow, LSP actually does have hair. Anyway, I think To Cut A Woman's Hair is my favorite episode so far.
Also, WTF at the ending. In a series as wacky and surrealist as this, it takes a lot to inspire that reaction, but that literally made me say what the heck out loud. Wow.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayJust follow the link and see.
Also, is it me or did LSP look different in that episode than she did before? I think it may be the expressions.

@Thunders: I don't know, why don't you ask them.
@Story: Looking them up, I know 2 of them had the correct name... Star Hunter that is.
We are all made of star stuff. Very, very weird star stuff. Now you're saying that your own name is incorrect?
Edit: It just occurred to me that you wouldn't get the twist at the end.
In case you were wondering Finn takes off his (nearly skintight) hat to reveal massive amounts of flowing blonde hair like Rapunzel

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI wouldn't call a name correct no matter how many people use it if it's not the name I want to go by.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@JT: Yeah, Pinkie would have a hard time even comprehending the idea of disliking the spotlight, the same way she just didn't understand that Cranky wanted to be alone because being alone is absolutely terrifying for her. I also realized that pretty much every time Pinkie put on a public performance, it ended in disaster or at least ended with the audience being annoyed at her rather than entertained. The crowd songs seem to work, because the other ponies are singing along with her, but these are the main times I can think of where Pinkie was doing an on-stage singing performance of some sort, and none of them turned out the way she wanted them to:
- In Over A Barrel, her "Gotta Share, Gotta Care" song enraged the buffalo the second time she sang it, and the first time was called the worst performance ever by both the buffalo chief and Sheriff Silver Star.
- In The Best Night Ever, no one at the Gala was entertained by her Pony Pokey and she was scolded for it.
- In Baby Cakes, her Piggy Song just made the Cake Twins cry even more.
- In Pinkie Pride, her Goof-Off performances entertained the ponies at first, but it still ended in disaster because Pinkie realized that Rainbow Dash wasn't enjoying it, especially after Pinkie dropped a giant pinata on Rainbow Dash.
If I am forgetting a time where Pinkie made a performance (not just one of her random songs but a public performance) and it was successful, please tell me, but I'm pretty sure that most of the time, her public on-stage singing is not well-received in-universe. Which is why she's probably confused as to why Fluttershy is so upset, because Fluttershy managed to do what Pinkie has attempted to do multiple times and failed: to give a singing performance on stage that makes others cheer for her and applaud.

Yeah, Pinkie can be bad at reading the mood and choosing an appropriate performance. Also note that in none of those cases did Pinkie really care that it went over badly.

Yeah, my take on it is similar. The difference is less jealousy and more just that Pinkie is basically at the opposite end of the extroversion/introversion spectrum from Fluttershy. She thrives on being the center of attention and loves the spotlight. She can barely comprehend the idea of not liking it, especially since everyone liked Fluttershy's performance. From Pinkie's perspective, Fluttershy was doing something she enjoyed, doing it well, and received an extremely positive response. As far as Pinkie is concerned there's no reason why Fluttershy would be scared. Especially since Fluttershy's already done performing. Pinkie doesn't know why Fluttershy would be nervous about something that already happened. In fact, that's the crux of Pinkie's whole issue at the end. She's trying to drive home how brave she thinks Fluttershy was. She doesn't think anything of emphasizing how scary it was because the performance is over, hence Fluttershy has nothing to be afraid of now.
Of course, the issue is that Pinkie doesn't get that Fluttershy never wants to be the center of attention, even the attention is positive. It's less jealousy and more that she just doesn't comprehend that some ponies don't want the attention. That's why it doesn't contradict her refusal to prank Fluttershy in "Griffon the Brush Off". In that case it had nothing to do with performance.
In other news, I'm watching "Guardians of Sunshine" now. Loving the retro CG feel.
