My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Live Reactions & Discussion)

Go To

A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

Well, apparently Eat is closed on Sundays. We went to another restaurant instead.

Dark- sorry about the emotional issues. If there's anything I can do, let me know.

@King Kix: Mostly I was a quiet kid but I didn't handle being an outcast very well. I had incidents of acting out when my peers revealed to me how little they thought of me.

And then my dad belted me because I kept bring home incomplete school work.

I know, right? It's one of those terrible 90s songs that's actually kind of good if you're willing to look past the cheese. A lot like ponies, really. I occasionally listen to it when I feel the need to cheer on my live.

@Kayeka. That's part of the problem, don't have any pills to take, never did. I'm trying to get a psych going for meds, but it's been hard and looking like it'll take some weeks before my next attempt is giving an appointment.

[up]Bleh, I hate it when people don't get the care they need. When I started to have trouble with autism, depression, and general self-loathing, I almost immediately got a small army of therapists, counsellors and psychiatrists at my disposal plus a liveable financial allowance.

It didn't help me get out of this hole I'm in yet, but at least I'm still living a relatively comfortable life (by all accounts, I'd be one of those crazy homeless people if it wasn't for all the help), and I have reason to believe it will be better eventually.

But really, pills are usually not the main thing you should be working in. It's very much a support thing, a little extra help while trying to deal with your problems. Friends and family are much more important, as is finding a hobby to spend your time and express yourself a little.

I've tried, but I'm very socially awkward these days and don't really have any friends. six years of this has killed a lot of my enthusiasm, and there's a lot of stuff I can't do because of visual limitations.

I've not regressed into suicidal urges in some time, so I guess there's that. And I've tried writing, but I'm so sure I'm going to fail it's self-defeating.

sorry guys, I try not to complain so much.

@Mio: I'd guess we experienced a pickup when the season started, so I imagine it'll be sooner than that.

@Dark: Eh, it's fine. I bring my shit into this thread way too often as well.

So, you're a hobbyist writer, but can't get anything actually done because you're afraid to fail, eh? That sounds a lot like my problem, really. Maybe you'd be interested in an arrangement of sorts? Maybe we could encourage each other somehow.

Like, we vow to write at least so many words per week, and let each other read it for constructive criticism. Or something.

Have you two ever been to the Pony fanfic thread?

It's been a while since I've written so I don't pay as much attention to it these days. But in my experience, having a support group really does help. And if y0ou don't want to take my word for it, I got the advice from my creative writing professor in college to begin with, and she is a Perfessional, so her word is good for it.

Hey, I know how that is. All too often I keep worrying about mere ideas being slightly off and it causes me to lose focus and I never really get any music stuff done. Thankfully, as of late, I've been deliberately ignoring those thoughts and pushing onward anyway smile

By the way, did you guys already have the full conversation about "5 more years of G4"?

@CDRW: We got the somewhat vague assertion that "MLP will continue for 5 more years". Whether that means the show is getting 5 more seasons, or that the gen is just designated to go that long, we don't know.
