A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Wow. Yeah.
Only the beginning had any words, anyway.
I beleive the term is diagetic.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayA capella? Where? I love capellas!
I noticed that too. Also did they say hooflights? And why are the relationship status still here?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayStare Master is still my top FS episode. KC&FO is pretty high up there too though.
)???
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@story: I don't remember if it was a tweet or what, but I seem to recall someone on the show mentioning at some point that Bon Bon's cutie mark was supposed to be bow ties, and that everyone had mistaken them for candy. It is entirely possible that my memory is making shit up though.
Also, on closer inspection, the bowties in this episode look a bit different from her cutie mark anyway.
Fandom nods:
- Flutterguy
- The show ACKNOWLEDGING IT IS CALLED Flutterguy
- Big Mac singing
- Big Mac "never gets to talk" jokes
- Continuity (again, Flutterguy, and the appearance of Goldie Delicious)
- Berry fainting, probably in response to seeing Big Mac be so good at singing
I suppose they're less nods, and more stuff the fandom would enjoy seeing and have been for a long time.

Spike called Flutterguy Flutterguy when Flutterguy debuted, that's what its always been.
Continuity is good writing, not fandom nodding.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you! What? I liked her. I'd say worst was either Luna Eclipsed or FPK.
Be sure to tell me how it is.
What? It's not like it was her fault.
I think the subject matter of the song is what confirms it.
Not the only one.
You mean they weren't?
I thought she was just hanging out with Tank. Also, Lyra and Bonbon were together in line, so they haven't broken up or anything.
I'm so tempted to go Challenge Accepted. But really it's just a matter of developing your muscles through practice. Most people can't write with their feet, but if you've grown up doing it, it's easy.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIn other news, new toys from the Toy Fair! I'll just copy and paste what I posted in the EG thread, its mostly EG stuff.
Photo Finish, two unkowns, among goth ponies & talking Chrysalis
.
Adagio Dazzle, villain of the movie?
...Yes, this is suppose to be Zecora
@Shota: Uh, Only a few of those things really count as nods:
- Flutterguy: This was just a call back. Granted, a call-back that lots of fans wanted to see, but still something that would make perfect sense outside of the fanbase.
- The show ACKNOWLEDGING IT IS CALLED Flutterguy: Uh, Spike is the one who first called her that, back in Bridle Gossip
- Big Mac singing: This could count.
- Big Mac "never gets to talk" jokes: This could also count.
- Continuity (again, Flutterguy, and the appearance of Goldie Delicious): There's nothing particularly fan-oriented about referring to past episodes.
- Berry fainting, probably in response to seeing Big Mac be so good at singing: That was Cheerilee, first of all. Could qualify though, given how many fans responded to "Hearts and Hooves Day"
Granted, it might just be different definitions of fandom nods here; I tend to only count it if it's specifically referring to a meme or running joke in the fandom. I.e. Derpy having a muffin, Lyra doing something human, stuff like that.
@Cal: All I'm going to say is that Vinyl has a pimpin' ride.

Reaction Image RepositoryYou know when Zecora started laughing there for a second I thought that SHE was going to volunteer to join the Ponytones. As the Bass voice.
Ah, the triumphant return of Blu Man- The heck!? That's not Blu Mankuma as Flutterguy! They replaced him with somepony else?! Which brings me to my next question: Where is Friendship is Magic recorded?

I watched the new episode and enjoyed it very much. I really like that they brought back Flutterguy, I was curious when I saw one of the previews and wondered how Fluttershy would be replacing Big Macintosh, since their usual voices are very different, but giving Fluttershy that poison joke-induced deep voice would certainly do it! I also liked that they didn't just magically have her get over her stage fright at the end, and had her take the smaller step of singing in front of her friends but not big crowds of other ponies. I'm rather ambivalent on Pinkie's behavior, though. As others have mentioned, she was more insensitive than she usually is, as she has shown the ability to be more attuned to other ponies' emotions than that. But at the same time, she also has had times where she gets loud and obnoxious and oblivious to her effects on others (such as in A Friend in Deed), plus she LOVES being in the spotlight herself and probably has a hard time imagining the idea of hating it. Not to mention it helped that she was called out for her behavior, particularly by Rarity. So while it's not Pinkie at her best, I still think it's understandable behavior for her (considering that the last episode was about her being upset that she would lose her party pony spotlight) and thankfully she was called out on it.

Hey, you try writing with a pencil held in your mouth. Not easy.
