A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I've never seen Sweetie as having that much performance anxiety, so I don't know. The other problem is trying to incorporate the other CMC into the episode, because you know they'd want to be involved somehow.
Reaction Image RepositoryBack stabber? I can see how she might be annoying, but she never backstabbed anyone.
Reaction Image RepositoryAnother of Pinkie's crazy fun faics
Zany characters tend to get overly zany as time goes by, and that's sometimes true here, but at least she gets called out on it.
Screen time is a problem. When it's all about her, they have room to breathe and make her real, but when she has less time, they tend to put the crazy parts first and foremost, which can do a number on her characterization. Hopefully they can find a sane balance. But I don't HATE her.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI was honestly amazed at how fast Applejack was able to put together what was happening.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987quick, someone write a fanfic where AJ is a detective.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.@nom: And that's the best-case scenario for limited screen time. AJ has become the straight mare in many of these situations now, and it totally works for her.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project@Ako: My guess is that it's less pronounced when she's part of a larger group. In this one, she was basically being the lead vocal, whereas in EQG it looks like playing like the tambourine or backing vocals or something. EQG Fluttershy is also sharing the stage with Pinkie and RD, who are inevitably going to hog a lot of the attention.
Yeah, Applejack really works best when she's reacting to the insanity around her. She really does make a great straight man to the antics and neurosis of everyone else.

@Shota: The lesson is similar but there's a difference. In Hurricane Fluttershy it was about getting over her performance anxiety and even if you're not the best, you can still do your best to help in any way you can. In this episode, it's not just getting over her performance anxiety but also realizing her talent and slowly allowing that talent to shine.
I remember someone on derpibooru arguing that this (or rather the general plot) should've been a Sweetie Belle episode since her talent does seem to be singing but has her performance anxiety. Any comments on that?
