A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

@Ed: Just a little.
But seriously, that was right up there with Pinkie Apple Pie and Rarity Takes Manehattan for my favorite of the season. It was just really solid all around.
The main thing that impresses me is that they managed to fit so many turns into the plot without it feeling rushed. A lot happens in this episode, and they fit it all in without going too fast.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectYa gotta love how this episode went, so much singing fun!
You know what else ya gotta do?
New entry for the Nightmare Fuel Page
. Yikes.
Yeah, the harmony stuff was surprisingly good.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectPinkie's complete and utter lack of tact was pretty funny every time it cropped up, so I'm fairly inclined to be gracious towards her. And hey, at least she got called on, and recognized, what she was doing. Doesn't always happen.
Which is kinda funny, because the "Don't be so ridiculous" "But I'm so good at it" exchange kinda made me think she was aware of what she was doing. I guess she just didn't realize how badly it was affecting Fluttershy.
Speaking of, with a nightmare sequence like that when she's being applauded, I'm beginning to think Fluttershy may want to look into professional help. Seriously, girls got some serious goddamn neuroses going on.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Yeah, I really liked how it was almost entirely character-driven rather than having some sort of external thing driving the plot. It felt really reminiscent of "Green Isn't You're Color" without being a rehash or involving a new character.
Reaction Image Repository@Ace: Yeah, but we had like Luna Eclipsed levels of oblivious today.
But at least the others know when to stop her. So honestly, she wasn't that bad.
I do like how every Fluttershy episode is basically looking at different aspects of fear.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThe other two members of the quartet were really cool to. I expect bead-mane will be getting a fair bit of attention.
Skinny blue will probably get shipped with Big Mac a few times too. Lucky guy.
Toe Tapper and Torch song,
their names are. I can dig it.

Rarity swatting Pinkie with the rolled-up paper was a good one
And then a completely different reason arose for Flutters to get on stage.
So yes, this was a wonderful episode. Fluttershy was absolutely adorable as she was getting into her singing, everything was paced really well, Big Mac actually got to speak a bit, some ponies I've been missing for awhile like Cheerilee and the spa ponies return, and the moral doesn't just shove Fluttershy right out into public performance after one pep talk.
And Amy Keeting Rodgers is fucking amazing as a writer. she also did Pinkie pride and Pinkie Apple Pie, it's no wonder why her episodes have been some of the strongest this season.
I normally don't gush too much, but this is just a fun, fast-paced episode that says what it wants to say and I really can't see any flaws with it.
Ha, in your face, cynical critics! This show is not going downhill at all.

That was great! The moral was good, the conflict was nice and the constant turns in the plot kept it fresh without overdoing the premise, and the songs! Oh remix fuel.
