A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Jason Fox has been 10 since the 80s. Which leads to hilarity such as a recent strip having him thinking that dialup modems were just a story Dad made up when in the early strips, he was around to make use of the precursor to the internet.
Edit: Actually it's Peter who thinks dialup was a myth. Which just makes things worse.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAsh Ketchum, nothing. Charlie Brown hasn't aged for decades.
Yeah, but they've also undergone dozens of continuity reboots.

Reaction Image RepositoryYep. I also have all but one of the collection books.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Story That comic and Garfield are my childhood memories. Foxtrot moreso in my adult years. Jason is awesome.
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qI remember Garfield but I don't remember it ever being any good. Same with Peanuts. Sadly I missed C&H.
Anyway, if it really was only a year, that would explain the strange lack of ageing among the CMC and the Cake twins.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayGarfield was fairly good before the turn of the millennium, basically. It doesn't seem like much now, but back in the day it was fairly original. The problem is that everybody and their grandma copied it and improved on the formula, while Garfield itself just sort of kept doing the same thing over and over.
Also, Calvin And Hobbes and The Far Side are both awesome.
Reaction Image RepositoryI haven't subscribed to a daily newspaper in years, so I no longer read Garfield.
Some other area paper carried Marvin, which is Garfield as a human baby. Same art style and overall blandness. I'm surprised Jim Davis didn't sue. I called it "Marfield".
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!I haven't read Garfield in years. Only because my newspaper completely took the comics in the funnies, that included Garfield, Foxtrot, Cathy (ok, Cathy wasn't funny for me) and put mostly unfunny funnies.

https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qHow many times can Jim Davis repeat the same "Jon says, 'Garfield, you're fat'" joke?
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!I haven't read a daily newspaper in years. I just read Foxtrot online.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayMy friends and I actually started our own chapter of G.R.O.S.S. once or twice. It never lasted long, but the thought was there.
As for Garfield, you ought to check out Garfield Minus Garfield.
It's just old Garfield strips with Garfield edited out, which turns it mostly into Jon talking to himself and empty panels. It's actually funnier than it sounds.
Calvin And Hobbes was so much better than anything else that called itself a comic strip. In a way, I'm glad it went out on top instead of continuing on and becoming a pale imitation of itself.

That's great but I remember there was a version out there that leaves Garfield in, but removes all of his thought bubbles, so Jon is just talking to a non-sentient cat.
Also, you should check out Square Root Of Minus Garfield.
