A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Come to think of it, the Big City good guys are getting more nuanced now, too. Fancypants was some kind of paragon of kindness and class. Coco Pommel was a good pony who allowed evil to triumph until Rarity showed her the alternative. Harshwhinny and the organizer of that Manehattan fashion contest were stern-but-fair ponies with prickly personalities.
Aaaaaaand now I'm not sure where Photo Finish fits into this.
Photo Finish is almost sort of a Blue-and-Orange Morality thing. You could say that she was wrong to force Fluttershy into modelling, but on the flipside Fluttershy was actively hiding her dislike for it, so you can't blame PF for that.
Reaction Image Repository...so, growing a tree from cuttings basically means cloning the apples?
Blue-and-Orange Morality is actually a pretty good description of her. She's just so different you can't help but judge her by another yardstick. I wonder if it would be awesome or aggravating to know someone like her in real life.

AJ trolling Rarity was just about the best thing ever of the week. I also liked Rarity's Helga Pataki shrine.
It wasn't so much "cultural appropriation" so much as "imitating Applejack specifically".
EDIT: I'm heading for bed now.

Reaction Image RepositoryYou know, if most people saw that out of context, they'd assume you were talking about Pinkie.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play

I don't think it's on the level of the "Jews are good with money" stereotype mentioned above because as far as I know, there's no Jewish holiday celebrating financial ability. I can't really think of any good real world examples; the main difference is that while there are' cultural festivals today, most of them aim to celebrate the culture as a whole'' rather than focusing on specific aspects of it like WWU does.
The closest example I can think of would be say, hitting on a Japanese girl by saying that you've always admired Japanese Spirit. It's a pretty lousy way to hit on someone, but at the same time, you aren't really treating their cultural in a negative fashion outside of simply being ignorant.
