A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Terrible things will always exist, but that doesn't mean they'll always persist. Fifty Shades of Gray and Twilight aren't exactly going to be taught as classic literature in 100 years. However, good things will also continue to be created, even if in different forms than they previously existed.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@Story: The fact that old music is available has precisely nothing to do with whether future music will be any good.
Reaction Image Repository@Darkabomination: Is it just me, or are all the Tesla coil synth players just recording cover versions rather than original songs? The only original example I know of is Pepe Deluxé using it for the climax of "Queenswave"
.
My point is that since old music remains available, the best music available is always getting better.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayOlder video game music seems more iconic because the limitations meant they had to focus almost enteirely on the melody, so that made them catchier, because the melody is often what the human mind first thinks of. But there is totally great and catchy music beng made today, and the improvements to tech expand what we can do.
Actually, this video explains it better than I can.
@Story: Okay, that makes a little more sense. I read it as saying that "newer music is inherently better" which makes no sense.

of Fallout: Equestria - Project Horizons.
Older music is hit or miss. Sometimes it's awesome, other times the sound quality is too low to really enjoy it. Of course for the popular games, you get orchestral and fan remixes giving the best of both worlds.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAll true.
@Meta. Agreed, it should be used for more than novelty covers. Same with a capella, two great genres that need to branch out and do their own things rather than staying commercially viable.
On that note, it's a little sad to think the 50s and 60s had a lot of incredible vocal harmonies and voice work, yet modern works haven't really surpassed them.
Speaking of music, anyone have suggestions for underappreciated vg music? I got Surgeon Simulator with the Humble Bundle, and some of the soundtrack is surprisingly good.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAs for Sonic the Hedgehog and narm, I really liked the tone that the anime OVA used. It had some nice variation between goofy and serious, and it captured the tone of the 90s games very well, even though it had nothing whatsoever to do with their plots.
Indeed. Makes me wonder What Could Have Been if the ova had made it as an anime which it was a pilot for. I remember the animation was rather good and the fight scenes were excellent.
I've watched a couple of them, but it didn't really hold my interest.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlaySpeaking as a Sonic fan, I will say that although the OVA did capture the feel and look of the games it just felt out of place to be honest. And I never understood why they kept calling Metal Sonic, Hyper Metal Sonic when there's no real difference to how he looks or why he's even called Hyper Metal Sonic in the first place.
"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus Prime

But the old music is still available!
