A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I wonder why A.J wasn't interested in the first place. She's married to her work.
She IS the disorder.

Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceThe Return of Orangejack.
Rarity doesn't understand the difference between a farmer and a hillbilly.
And yeah, Trenderhoof is such a tool.
AJ's heart is with Bloomberg :V

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!@King: But no one is that into farming. Not even her.
@JT: Is it possible for an episode to be both low-key AND over the top?

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWow, AJ. Like, dayum. I see some of Aunt and Uncle Oranges lessons stuck with you... she pulled off high soceity a lot better than Rarity pulled off farmlife.
Also, I choose to believe Applejack's hesitation is because she was gonna say she was exceptionally a lesbian.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Yeah, there was an interesting parallel between him and Rarity at the end, there. And Rarity and Applejack's role reversal was amazing.
But even so, the episode just felt kinda odd. Can't quite put my finger on why, though. I guess it's that even with Rarity's melodrama, she usually doesn't let herself lose focus so easily.
@Ed: I think it's because in the case of Pinkie Pride, the fact that it was a Pinkie episode justified the insanity, especially with Weird Al in the mix. Once expects an episode with Rarity and especially with Applejack to be dialed back a bit more, so to see her go so crazy was unexpected. Not bad mind you, but just not quite how I expected the episode to handle things.

Reaction Image RepositoryI think I agree with that. Plus, I think maybe Trenderhoof came off a bit of a creepy to me.
So guys
Trenderhoof or Flash Sentry?

What a boring episode, other than the "I like being covered in mud" part there was nothing interesting.
One episode Romantic Plot Tumor much?
I had a feeling it'd suck based on the premise, but I'd hope there'd be more substance to it. But no it was just Rarity getting jealous.
Is this really the same guy who wrote Castlemania earlier?
@Ako: Trenderhoof. He actually had a personality, and it seems like he's actually a decent guy.
Rarity will now join the pantheon of truly painful accents. AJ was definitely a more convincing Southern Belle.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project@Ako: Well, Trenderhoof actually kinda had a personality, so there's that. He came in a bit overly strong, but honestly he didn't overdo it as much as Rarity did, so complaining about him doing that would be a bit of a double standard.
@Terl: What, no love for Rarity attempting to turn herself into AJ. Even though the whole crush thing was overdone, that was hilarious.
Personally, my main gripe with the episode is that Trenderhoof dominated Rarity's focus too much; I feel like they should have balanced it a bit more by Rarity's country-ness being the result of not only wanting to impress him personally, but also wanting to make sure that he responds well to the festival. If he likes country stuff, she needs to act that way as Ponyville's representative to make the town look good. Unfortunately, the episode didn't focus much on that side of things in favor of focusing on Rarity's personal interest in him.

Reaction Image RepositoryI liked this ep more than i thought I would, but I still feel like the plot of a lead letting a crush cloud her judgment is a bit lame. Dunno. I know that would be in-character for Rarity, but she's not THIS careless. If this were a Season 1 episode, I think it would be a better ep because while Applejack knows Rarity enough to know she wouldn't do this, WE the audience ,by that point, would not. I think the characters by now are a lot more complex, now that we seen them for 3 and a half whole seasons!
I wanna see an ep with just those sketches Rarity drew! :D I like those!

@Shota: See my previous post. If they would've focused a bit more on the festival, that issue could've solved itself.
Oh yeah, the episode was definitely entertaining. There are going to be dozens of great screengrabs. It's just that Rarity's characterization felt a little unbalanced. That's honestly the only real problem I have with this episode.

Reaction Image RepositorySome more notes
- Spike seemed to have gotten passed being friend zoned, but i LOVED the remark Rarity gave to painfully remind him of that. :D I had a hard laugh at that.
- Tenderhooves was SO well-designed! Very retro.
- ..... Applejack.... unkempt.... with apple droppings on her mouth..... O//////O
- lol Derpy is SO under-appreciated!
- How many named ponies did you catch in the crowd scene in the beginning?
One thing I did notice about the episode is that the ending really snuck up on me. The climax didn't feel at all climactic, and nothing really felt like it was building anywhere... it was mostly just a series of things happening. Which I'm usually okay with, as long as the things are interesting, which most of them were, if a tad awkward in places.
Overall I'd say the setup and progression were lacking, but any individual moment of the episode was fun. Just, poor structure I guess?

She isn't being compared to a disorder.
