A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Kewl. I'll check it out tonight after I come back from that drawing course I've signed up for in a fit of preposterous spontaneity.
Maybe I'll also go back to that fanfic I've been sitting on for far too long. Maybe, if the drawing lessons take, I'll continue it in comic form.
Prolly not, though. But it would be nice to actually get started on a proper hobby rather than attempting to cure my chronic boredom by buying more old games on Steam that I didn't have much of an interest in when they were still new.
Yeah, they're establishing their own voice. It may be hit and miss depending on the person, but it's been a good season of TV so far.

By the way - has anyone heard about the Double Rainboom takedown? Apparently the lead animator behind the the animation wants to move on to bigger and better things but also wants to live DR down, so he's trying to remove all traces of it from the Internet (a plan, of course, that was doomed to failure before it began).
Personally I didn't really like Double Rainboom, it being the big fat unnanounced Powerpuff Girls crossover that it was, but just pulling the thing without warning/notifying any of the animators who worked their rumps off on it sort of seems like a dick move...

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSI see the Princess of the Twili Folk is among us. Did someone fix the Twilight Mirror or something?
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! She doesn't seem to be the Midna. Unless the Midna has gotten significantly less Sassypants since Twilight Princess.
... Heh. Twilight Princess
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.next time Twilight's on, we shoukd ask her if she's played that game.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Probably not. If Pony!Video games are still at the cabinet stage, there's a good decade or two to go.
Well, I suppose arcade cabinets are still being made modern day. Either way, I doubt they're that far along. Though she could have found an emulator, since she has internet access, I suppose.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Hmmm... Sombra would make a decent equivalent of Ganondorf, actually.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. As it turns out, the Double Rainboom takedown was at Hasbro's request
◊.
So he basically lied about why he was taking the animation down because reasons.

And the Militia can't ask for other people's help! That would mean that the black helicopters get involved! Even if they have the complete approval of the government!
TANK! I haven't seen him since 1988!
Did Tank just lick Dash? That's actually quite cute.
Oh yeah, Spike would also mud-wrestle his own mother if Rarity asked.
More Happy Lunar New Year stuff
That was far from its biggest problem, IMO.
Also, does anyone remember which episode had RD beating up that fog cloud?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Kayeka: For my take, S3 was a bit iffy due to the length causing a lot of pacing issues, but so far S4 has been really good. I can't say for sure that it's on par with the first two seasons since we haven't seen all of it yet, but I think that pretty far it's been really solid.
@Dark: I agree that you should expand that. It would be great.
Also, I don't understand militant shipping either. And this is from a guy who's writing a shipfic that's two hundred thousand words long. I mean, my two favorite ships are mutually exclusive (Twijack, and Rarijack, for the record).
Reaction Image RepositoryAll of my ships have been randomly paired enough to be considered crack ships, very nearly.
I mean, Ziggy Stardust/Vinyl Scratch, Pokey Pierce/Ace, Sunburst/Neon Lights, Hoops/Dumbbell, Flim/Twilight... half of those are all background, and not even popular in some cases.
When I ship I mostly do it for yucks or the sake of a story. Even if this were a show where canon shipping was a possible thing I still wouldn't really get it.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Yeah, DR had problems, but I don't think that the Powerpuff Girls crossover was the issue. It was more that it had too much filler and that the characterization was kinda off.
Reaction Image Repository@JT: I am now imagining a militia composed entirely of Zuko/Katara shippers.

1. Applelight ended up getting banned for stuff that happened in the OTC subforum, unfortunately.
2. I don't know who that other person is.

Reaction Image RepositoryDouble Rainboom was full of problems (Twilight and Rainbow go through major Character Exaggeration, the Powerpuff Girls go through major Character Derailment, animation was advertised as being show-quality when - although good - it wasn't, animation was advertised as being "the first fan-made episode" when it was a glorified PPG crossover, blatant use and abuse of le epic maymays, arrogant director), but I think the crossover part was the biggest.

Hiya! Great to see you back. And buck to the yes, this has been a very strong season so far, a few weak spots aside. The premiere I'd say has been the strongest yet, and unless you've been spoiled, you'll be surprised where it ends up and the direction it's going in.
I'd say this was really the first time the writers grew out of Faust's shadow and are doing something new and different with the show's direction, and I say that in a very positive way. I like what they're doing and look forward to where they're going.
