A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Gummy has never looked so realistic!
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!I have to say that when the only reason there's any conflict in the first place is because that's how the writer set it up, I tend to cringe my way through the episode.

"And the loser?" "Doesn't."
GAAAAASP!!!!!!!
Well, there WAS a reason for why the conflict was there. It was Pinkie's own pride, hence the title. She is so used to having the parties in Ponyville hosted by her for SO LONG that it's very alienating when some new schmuck comes and proves to be better at it than she is. I relate to a similar situation. It's just a feeling she needs to get over. Her friends weren't being out of character by abandoning her. They were just caught up in the new shiny thing going their way! No one said Pinkie couldn't come along and help Cheese.

Something I didn't notice before, when Diamond Tiara was singing, she knocks over her tiny ice scream treat and tries to steal Silver Spoon's big chocolate milkshake thing. I thought this was a rare moment of niceness for her, but no! She's stealing from her best friend right in front of her!
@Calnos: eeyup. Though SS stole it right back, so at least she's not having any of DT's shit.

I'm sorry, but dismissing any conflict without a clear-cut villain as "idiot plot" is a very ignorant and stupid argument. I hate when the people go "oh if those whiny pricks just did this and that, everything would be solved". Fuck those people.
The reasons here are emotions. Pinkie felt overshadowed by this new party pony taking on her turf, and the rest of the ponies were too excited with this new and charming stranger to notice Pinkie. So she felt threatened, and after initially appearing to give up, decided that this pony is an enemy and should be fought. At the same time, Cheese was so preoccupied with giving Pinkie(and the entire Ponyville) a good impresson, he didn't even notice what was going on. And for someone who was inspired by her, overshadowing would have been an unbelievable thing, so he didn't notice.
Idiot Plot page in general could use a serious cleanup. It's so full of ignorant "hurr durr dem so stupid dem didnt do dat" entries, it's sickening to read.
Three ten to Goof-off. It's bad how loud I laughed at that.

I didn't watch in optimal conditions, but the polka part stole the show, especially live action Gummy.
