[up][up][up]Season 2 was probably the season that made me the most "angry".

I actually feel that season 4 has been pretty weak, but there are still plenty of episodes to go so who knows.

@shota: I think I actually enjoyed 2 a bit less than 3 as I've stated. But it's relative. Like I said, I just enjoy the show.

I think a lot of reviews fall into the trap of looking for things to complain about based on the idea that that's more entertaining than gushing, but that can sort of taint your expectations. Nothing wrong with finding problems with an episode, but going in looking for them can make them seem like a bigger deal than they are.

I think a lot of the problems in Season 3 occured because of the 13-episode limit. The last ep of that season should have been 2.

I think that was the only one that strictly suffered for time.

I think in general, the overall pacing of the show has improved this season. I don't feel like they're rushing through stuff too much.

@Mio: It's just a trend I've noticed in a lot of review series' (not just pony, either) that they tend to get more nitpicky and negative as they go on, because you start to change from "guy who watches the show out of enjoyment and then reviews it" to "guy who watches the show for the purpose of reviewing it." That's part of the reason I'm not doing reviews for the bulk of the season; I was starting to watch them too much in the mind of picking them apart as I watched rather than just enjoying myself. The other reason being I have no time to write those again.

As for S3 it's kinda tough to compare because a lot of the issues can be traced back to the length. I think that the main issues are that:

1. It had a rough start. The Crystal Empire episodes weren't bad or anything, but compared to most of the other two-parters they were on the weak side, what with a weaker villain and a new setting literally appearing out of nowhere. And because of the length of the season, that rough start meant that it didn't build up momentum until nearly halfway through the season (Magic Duel was the first episode that I thought the season did really well).

2. It meant that Discord's redemption and Twilight's ascension got crammed into single episodes when they really should've been two-parters. In particular, the latter means that the season had a weaker ending as well. As the beginning and ending tend to stick in the mind, especially with such a short season, it taints the overall view.

In short, the individual episodes are roughly the same quality as the rest of the series, but as a complete season it's weaker compared to the full seasons. It took too long to get going; by the time it felt like things were moving it was already starting to wrap up.

Still kind of weird to see you as AJ, JT. Maybe if I had known AJ would make that face I would have kept on keeping on.

I'd say season 3 was the worst too.

Also who's going next? Brahian?

Edit: Send your chapter to Meta Four so he can send it out once we figure out who's going next.

Yeah Digi and BC have just REALLY slipped into, mostly ranting and bitching. Nitpicking everything, and unless the episode has something that they really want to see, or does something exactly the way they think it should be done, nag nag nag and only really go on about ho off, and wrong they feel Season 4 is. Only episdoes they actaully seemed to like were the premeir, and Flight.

Luckily you got some one who acaully try, and DO nomraly give eps a fair shake. Mr Enter is amazing, and tends to really go in detail at times. Though the more negative reviews this season really came off way o harsh, and even he admitted it later. Mostly saying the season was so good, that when he found an ep he could actaully be upset with, he went to far.

Or Silver Quills... always rather upbeat, looking at pros and cons of the more.. ify.. issues. More just, Hey this happened and, it could have been better, not really hating... plus his stuff is just fucking hilarious.

[up][up][up][up]I guess I just found the way you phrased it made it sound like these people were being insincere. Though frankly if they were going to review anything for any reasonable length of time it would have been inevitable that they would have encountered somethings they didn't like so it seems really odd to hold that against them, or to disregard their opinions.

Question for those of you who have played card games. Do you think it'd be better to adapt MLP into Yugioh cards, or Magic the Gathering cards? Because I have Magic Set Editor and I could totally do that.

In which we realize that Shining Armor's only contemporary is Blueblood. Also, Big Mac, Spike and Carrot Cake are dressed as mustachioed mares for some reason.

Also, Pinkie and Cheese is a good name for a cop show.

Voiceover: One is a hyperactive party pony. The other is Pinkie Pie. Together, they fight crime with the power of frosting. Creamy, creamy frosting.

And the conversation has moved on while I was editing. tongue

Oh well, it's all YMMV stuff anyway. I just feel like a lot of reviews focus on the letter of the law over the spirit, so to speak.

Going to bed for real now.

I'd say Apple Family Reunion was pretty bad too.

Feeling Pinkie Keen is one of the episodes where they kinda fumbled the moral.

I can't watch FPK without thinking, "Twilight, why don't you teleport across the canyon?"

Of course, then we wouldn't have gotten the scene I call "Boing. Boing. Boing. SPLAT!" tongue

"The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well" is the worst episode to date. They'd later revisit the superhero genre, and parody it RIGHT, in "Power Ponies".

I'd say MTG since it seems like a deeper game to me than Yugioh (I haven't actually played it). But just a warning - a previous attempt to create MLP MTG cards got C&Ded.

P.S. Has Dr. Whooves done anything in the show besides buying some apples and turning the hourglass in SC S6k?
