A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@Story. Huzzah, found the little list. Copypaste:
you can skim, if you'd like. Though I'd suggest watching the following as a bit of a crash course in Ooo and the supporting cast:
- 1: Slumber party Panic. Mostly because it's the first ep and introduces Princess Bubblegum and the candy Kingdom.
- 2: Trouble in Lumpy Space. Introduces Lumpy Space Princess who's a major supporting character.
- 3: prisoners of Love. Introducing the ice King who's a main character, gives a feel for the kind of plots he tends to generate, and some of the many, many princesses of Ooo show up.
- 4: Tree Trunks. Debatable. tree Trunks is a minor supporting character, but this episode does end in the series first real Mind Screw and has a direct sequel in season 2's Crystals have Power.
- 5: The Enchiridion! Gives a feel for the series many Dungeon Crawl episodes and the Enchiridion is a major plot point later down the line.
- 9: My Two Favorite People. Introduces Lady Rainicorn, Jake's girlfriend and a major supporting character.
- 10: Memories of Boom boom mountain. Debatable. shows a somewhat important flashback as to why Finn became a hero and establishes a stronger brother relationship with Fin and Jake.
- 12: evicted! Introduces Ensemble Darkhorse Marceline the vampire Queen who started as a minor character and quickly joined the main cast.
- 22: Henchman: Another Marceline episode that showcases Finn's slightly twisted relationship with her.
- 25: His Hero. Introduces the great hero Billy who fought the Lich, which is a major part of the show's Myth Arc. And he has an awesome song to boot: Who's the greatest warrior ever? A hero of renown? Who slayed an evil ocean? Who cast the Lich King down? BILLY! And that time the evil Fire Count Captured a damsel fair, Who saved her with such brav'ry That she offered him her hair? BILLY! Also... HE FOUGHT A BEAR!

Her kindness will probably be severely tested in some way.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectPart of me is looking forward to Pinkie Pride, to see how they pull it off. Another part of me is thinking the shenanigans are going to be too manic for my taste. Pinkie and Weird Al? Yeah, manic.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Yeah, my only worry is that they're going to overdo the zaniness. Although it's also supposed to be a musical episode, which gives them a bit more leeway; you can get away with more in a song because it's not a literal representation of what's actually going on.
Reaction Image RepositoryThanks!
Oh dear, hopefully LSB isn't as annoying in her future episodes.
White and Nerdy is hilarious and has more personal relevance, but my favorite's always been Virus Alert.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayActually, speaking of Weird Al, I found myself wondering today how the fandom is going to react. I mean, I feel like there'll be at least a small contingent of complaining about panda-ing... somehow, but I wonder if it being announced a couple of weeks in advance will kinda pad things a bit.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I think it probably helps that Weird Al involved himself of his own volition rather than say, it being any sort of meme surrounding him. I mean, lots of people thought it would be cool for him to be in the show, but there wasn't any specific approach to how he would be included, so in this case the show was basically free to do whatever they wanted with him rather than having to conform to the fanbase. Aside from Weird Al being involved, there isn't much pandering.
Reaction Image RepositoryIt seems big announcements put a buffer on the drama as the fandom can collectively vent and rage for a bit, so when the episode comes around they'll be finished blowing off steam and judge it a bit more fairly. If the episode came two days after the news, the fandom would be complaining of pandering for weeks to come and the episode would get an unfair reputation.
@story. Yeah, L Sp's a lot more likable in her later appearances as she takes a level in kindness and is more eccentric rather than a jerk.
Even then I think it would depend on how they used him. Given how he's utilized in the episode I don't think the complaints would have been that bad. Now, if they had cast him as Pinkie Pie's dad or something, it would've been a bit on the pandering side. As is, the only cue they took from the fans was "Weird Al should be involved" and everything else was them figuring it out themselves.
Okay I finally saw the video about the fonts. Century Gothic is still the best.
