A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Apparently, it's depressingly common in real life.

@Story Oh. Really? I only thought it would apply when you're a kid and you don't have many number to go through.

Yeah, passwords like "12345", "123", "password" and "email" are really common.

Even for celebrities who have best reasons to have complicated as shit passwords, it's common to have easy effortless passwords or even easily look-up-able info on their secret questions.

Wait...email is a common password? Huh, you learn something everyday.

If only humans have the capacity to think and remember complex strings of code then passwords would be Nigh-Invulnerable. Alas Humans Are Morons and can only remember a password if its a word. (I should know. I'm one of those people)

I remember in a presentation, someone was talking about how the combinations on electrical boxes are really insecure. He said "I can't tell you what they are, but it's the kind of thing an idiot puts on his luggage."

So apparently the latest thing in internet viruses is to lock your browser to a page claiming to be the FBI accusing you of downloading child pornography, pirating music, and spamming, with the caveat that all this might be getting done by malware without your knowledge, but you need to send a $300 fine to their address in order to get your browser unlocked.

In other news, I updated my Malwarebytes software last night.

That's why I always go for a lengthy acronym for my passwords. Easy for me to remember, but looks like a random assortment of letters for anyone else.

So I'm reading EQD's episode follow up, and I didn't realize the first time watching, but everypony but Twi's Starswirl costume is a little bit shit. Look at those tin cans for bells, and horns poking out of the hats.

Twi's a nerd, of course she'd have time to perfect her cosplay.

@Crow: That's the same thing I do.

[up]Or she just has more time/resources to dedicate to it than somepony who doesn't have magical research as her job. I wouldn't put it past her to order a bunch of historically accurate recreations and then chalk it up as a research expense.

The writers REALLY need to develop Starswirl's story more, so backgrounds and costumes like these don't come out looking exactly the same.

Inb4 Season 5 episode about Starswirl the Bearded. :D

My password for everything is my best friend's name and the year we first met.

I like to think Starswirl is a composite of pony Merlin and pony da Vinci.

At this point I'd be surprised if we didn't get an episode revolving around Starswirl eventually. Those time travel spells were in his wing of the library, right?

I go for multi-word long phrases based on, but not coming directly from, works I know of, occasionally using punctuation between words or having some, but not all, of the applicable letters replaced with numbers.

So, hey're easy for me to remember, harder to guess than some, an difficult to brute-force, since they're long.

I just use the same, simple password for most things that really don't matter. Like various forums, minor things.

Anything that involves money gets it's own little separate password.

They keep mentioning him in the show. They're building up toward it. It's the same thing as constantly bringing Discord back or Daring Do back.

Isn't there a theory that Discord was/is Starswirl?
