A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

Except, in this case, Fluttershy is the complainer as she's the only one going against the group.

We've discussed who was right a lot. Okay? We've discussed that topic to death, and I would really not like it if we went robbing the grave, okay?

I have a message from another time...

Somehow making Flutterbat made Fluttershy cuter. How is that possible.

Hm. Spell had some side effects, it seems.

It looks less like Bunnicula-style vampirism and more like Bunnicula-style vampirism in werewolf form, to me XD Since apparently Fluttershy sucked that apple dry at night.

Oh wow, the intro's only like 40 seconds. I think that's a new academy record the shortest yet.

Pretty sure there have been shorter ones before, but I don't remember offhand what they were.

@CDRW: Not that I know of, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Also, I have a question: everybody seems to assume that the whole "casting a spell on the fruit bats to make them not eat fruit" was going to be a disaster based on the parasprite incident. While I can kinda see why that happens, why doesn't anybody consider the fact that the thing with the parasprites gives this spell a greater chance of working properly? Twilight is now fully aware of the potential collateral damage, and could modify the spell so it doesn't happen again. While it didn't work quite as planned, it mostly did what it was supposed to.

I mean, yes, the parasprite spell resulted in disaster, but why would everyone expect Twilight to drop it like a hot potato rather than try to modify it to be useful. I mean, the minute she pulled out the bat spell, why was the reaction "Ohnoes it's going to be the parasprites again" rather than "Hey, maybe she worked out the kinks this time"?

Because fans decided long ago that Twilight apparently can't cast spells correctly ever for some reason.

Eh, it actually worked with no real side effects aside from Flutterbat this time, but she never really said that she had modified it in any way.

Well unless you're certain that she has, it's a sensible reaction. And there's no particular reason for her to have done so. It's not like the parasprites ever came back.

@ JT: I actually didn't think about the parasprite spell until somebody else brought it up. I was horrified because she was willing to cast a spell on a group of animals that would remove their desire to eat. That's really horrifying.

Even if we mentally add in a "they only don't want to eat apples" clause, it's still incredibly bad.

@ed: Don't for get the bleach.

Yeaaah, I'm going to put Bats! down as one of the series' more... odd episodes. I try not to think about it so hard, lest my head implode.
