A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Yeah, the Cloudsdale team was handled well. They do try to poach RD, but they don't belittle her own team aside from pointing out the obvious shortcomings, and are totally willing to pull for her even when she decides not to join them. They clearly respect her ability.
@Crow: Given that it was his own fault for crashing by being distracted by cheerleaders, I think she has some leeway to be frustrated with him.
Also Derpy. And this

Reaction Image Repository- Loved the blatant Derpy cameo, and she was derpy-eyed and acting like herself! :) I was worried since we don't see a lot of her as of late.
- As usual, the story spent too much time on the exposition in the beginning, and then rushed the ending.
- Is Spitfire just alternating personalities depending on the writer?? I thought she was all rules last time, and here she's perfectly fine with adding a new team member a day before the races?!
- I liked how they tried to put Biceps more into the spotlight, but he's still just a dim-witted oaf. Kind of a waste.
- Okay, all these rainbow shines have to be building up to something! This isn't the first time a character's eyes shined with rainbows during an epiphany either!

So I'm sure there will be some people upset about pandas, but after two years of no Derpy I am fully on board with her appearance here. I'm surprised that with all the muffins flying about, she didn't even seem to notice them.
Nothing against Biceps, but I hope he isn't the one getting teased about having more screen time. I was really hoping for somepony like Octavia.
Also if there isn't copious Pinkie and Twi cheerleader fanart I will be disappoint.
Spitefire was all rules? She kicked out Lightning Dust because she endangered other ponies with her stunts. Soarin wasn't in any danger (EXCEPT FROM DISCRIMINATION!!! D=<). And in any event, she would have to be more responsible as the leader of the academy. As an Equestria Games contestant she's going to do what it takes to make sure her team wins, even if it means DISCRIMINATING AGAINST MY MAIN STALLION SOARIN! D=<
I'm not sure what to make of him. I like how he's sort of the perfect contrast with Fluttershy and it's cool that we get to see some of his personality, but he doesn't exactly contribute much to the episode because he doesn't have any personal connection to RD in the way that Fluttershy or Wonderbolts do. IT would've been nice to see him make a personal appeal to her rather than just sort of just following everyone else.
Reaction Image Repository@JT: I like it because it would have SO easy to make them completely callous, but they didn't go for that. It has nuance, and it gives them flaws in a reasonable way.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project@Shota: Well, I don't think there's anything in the rules actually against changing the team lineup. It was a training camp, so it's possible that registrations hadn't happened yet, in which case anything goes. Her lying to Rainbow about Soarin seems a bit... under-the-table, as it were, and she still not as casual as her first appearance - though it is a competition, so who knows.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. This picture, part of Soarin's mane looks like a fin.

I'm guessing that the teams aren't set in stone until they actually qualify; you can shuffle beforehand, but once it's set it's set.
And yeah, Spitfire acts differently because she's in completely different situations. She was all rules in Wonderbolt Academy because she was a drill sergeant. Here she's not RD's superior, so she's going to treat her differently.
