A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Well RD has made little whirlwinds before, but nothing self sustaining like a tornado. That requires a great deal more effort.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThe going theory about the tribes is basically "Fausticorn did it".
And now I sleep.
"Tearing off vital wires and trying to escape the hospital is not good for a 65 year old stroke-victim's health."
Fuck, what? o_o
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@smasher: i knew we were huge, but i don't know if we're that huge. that would mean that we've beaten other fandoms that have been around for decades now.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Minecraft? MINECRAFT?
I've seen this fandom compared to Touhou and Homestuck. Didn't even know Minecraft had a big fandom.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWe're basically a younger Touhou fandom.

Speaking of Touhou, at least extremely tangentially, the lack of Fi M games outside of that iOS thing and he CCG baffles me.
I have a message from another time...@dark: Doctor Who has been running for 50 years. they outstrip everybody. although, fandoms do have more than a passing tendency to overlap (i can think of at least 10 other fandoms i'm a part of, not counting this one).
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.well, I'd certainly place FIM in the top ten, albeit in the middle-lower section.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Honestly, I think it depends on how you're counting. In terms of number of fans, we're definitely outstripped by the likes of Doctor Who and Star Wars. But in terms of fan created content, well, you're a lot more likely to find MLP art on the front page of Deviantart than you are either of them. And while the Harry Potter fandom may be big for fanfiction, they didn't get big enough to warrant an entire seperate website to host their stories.
Touhou still blows us out of the water even if you're counting that way though.
Edit: Oh wait, Harry Potter does have a seperate fanfic site, and it's bigger than fimfic, but not by all that much.

There's also the fact that HP's been around for a good 12 years, so it's had time to grow. By contrast, the cult pony fandom was around for more than 20 years and there's undr a few hundred fics for anything non Fi M.

Just sort of appears to be how they are. Long ago,
I have a message from another time...when the pyramids were still young, the three types of ponies mostly stayed within tribes of each species. Nowadays... well, they mingle more.
