A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Thanks.
Also, it's possible, but you could read that into just about anything.

Reaction Image RepositorySo, question for everyone (or at least for those of you who have lived in large cities). Is it really "everyone for themselves" in places like Manehattan?
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/To an extent, certainly. Especially in busy areas people tend to be treated more harshly and as just a number. Here in Las Vegas at least, it can be easy getting cynical as most of our attractions are to lure in tourists so there's not much feeling of community.
Also, what does Coco Pommel look like?

@ Ike: Let's put it this way. When I go grocery shopping, I can usually find four to five homeless men standing at the various entrances asking for money. The sheer number of beggars you meet is incentive enough to not give anything to anyone, because if you do, you'll very quickly find yourself without anything to live off of yourself.

I've lived in or near three major cities in Canada in my lifetime.
The first, Winnipeg, I only lived near, but on the occasions I visited, It wasn't really all that great. Not terrible, but kinda dull and it seemed unpleasant to my perspective. However, I've heard a lot of people say that the people are very friendly. Which, again, hasn't been my experience, but that comes with a heaping helping of perspective:
The second city I lived in was Vancouver, which is kind of like Canada's Hollywood. It's a huge entertainment center, basically. A lot of filming, and especially animation is done there because it's fairly temperate year-round, if a tad rainy, so winter doesn't really mark a stopping point like it would in other places. I actually found the people in Vancouver to be really really nice, if not inherently hospitable(Especially in the winter, where the almost non-stop rain can kinda kill some people's moods). But there was certainly never any feeling of selfishness, there.
Currently I live in Montreal, which is an interesting case. At first glance Montreal is kind of selfish - pedestrians ain't give a damn about stop lights, and motorists and similar; there's a lot of distrust to the police and the Metro Security in particular, and it's an open secret that the mafia has the government in it's pocket. In a way, it seems very cold... but on the other hand I've actually found Montreal to be the most pleasant place I've lived, it just takes some getting used to because even compared to the rest of Canada, it's a very unique culture. It's basically a city looking for an excuse to party: People want to have a good time and hang around, well-evidenced by the abundant clubs and good restaurants, not to mention that Summer is regarded as Festival Season, meaning there is always something going on, and even during the winter there are a lot of things happening, like White Night - an all night long celebration of the arts, where a whole bunch of different places will have shows, and galleries, and stuff like that. The people are genuinely friendly, especially if you give speaking French an honest shot. The trick is, someone kinda needs to make the first move, even if said move is kinda minor.
So yeah, to summarize: Not even a little bit. Suri was blowing smoke to justify her own selfish bitchiness.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I've heard that general trust varies by country. In Haiti noone trusts each other, even in villages.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Dark The musical that the Mane Six wanted to see, Hinny of the hills are referencing an old and obscure musical called The Maid of the Mountains.
@Will Keaton Apparently from what I've read: The Maid of the Mountains is an escapist story set in a bandit camp high up in the mountains of presumably Italy. It's supposed to be an operatic sort of musical that is in the comedy genre.

"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus Prime@Will: Twilight lied to her and told her its about Daring Do.
So Grumpy Cat guy looks a little familiar.

@Ike: As a rule, not really. In certain careers you might be forced to fend for oneself in that fashion, but in general it isn't that bad most of the time. Unless you actively go to a bad part of town, at least.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Sorry, I don't remember. And I can't find any screencaps offhand that show it either.
One other thing is that she has short rounded hair that reminds me of the crystal ponies.

Japaneseteeth, you icon rocks.
Also, did I see a very faint commentary on the oppression of the working class in employment?
