A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

Okay, I just rewatched the bits of the episode I missed and I like it even more now. It's a really good study of how generosity works and how it's possible for others to take advantage of it. Also, Coco is freaking adorable.
Reaction Image RepositoryEQD is right. Watching the song in reverse is pretty amusing.
EDIT: Beaten to it...

Re: Pic speed: Unsurprising, considering Coco came off as a woobie and this fandom loves woobies.
Unrelated to the episode: when pony and Frozen inspire me together
. >.>
- Man, poor Spike. Still, I suppose he does volunteer to lug around Rarity's junk...
- Twilight Sparkle says, "Dammit Rarity, emotionally strongarming Spike into doing tedious manual labour is MY job."
- Dash is excited to see a musical? Okay... cool that the episode remarks on that, though. Even if, as time goes on, Dash reveals a gradually more and more nerdy persona.
- I'm beginning to see what people mean about Pinkie kinda getting the Flanderization stick. Not that she was ever really all there, except in focus episodes, but she seems kinda incoherent with the whole, "I love Jumping up and down" thing. That said, it was a good gag.
- Heh. Gray Gate Bridge?
- BACKGROUND ALICORN WHAT!?
- I wonder what the relative exchange rate of gems is in Equestria? Is someone lobbed a fist-sized pink diamond at me as a tip, I'm pretty sure I'd shit myself.
- Also, Bell booooooooy
- Awesome song is awesome. Lucky Rarity is lucky.
- Bitch Siri is a biiiiiiitch.
- Coco is adorable and I want to hug her.
- No seriously, I'm not sure if Siri's "Uh-humm" tic making me want to hit her is due to the tic itself, or just because it's like a neon sign that says "Biiiiiiitch"
- You'd think it would be pretty easy to reveal who actually came up with those designs first... I mean, Rarity presumably has a lot of that fabric with her if she was willing to just hand out a swatch. Still, the impact would be lost I guess.
- Rarity's freakouts continue to be almost uncomfortably entertaining. Though it is a shame to see her going off the deep end so fast. did being generous never bite her in the ass in Ponyville even once?
- Rarity, pointing out your friends are being ungrateful for a gift doesn't really work if you aren't actually letting them have the gift...
- I see she's gone the modern art route on her new dresses, huh... seems to be working.
- Is Sapphire Shores a judge, or is she just in the audience? I mean, Hoity Toity is right beside her...
- Come to think of it, don't I recall seeing those two in shots together a lot? Hmmm Could Hoity Toity actually be... straight!? Seriously though, Hoity Shores would be an interesting ship.
- Really Dash? Calling Applejack on being blunt?
- Suri is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH and Coco has no pokerface.
- I don't believe Rarity's excuse for being able to get a private showing. No Costume designer has that kind of clout. Seriously, whose dick did she suck to make that happen?
- Want to hug Coco. So Bad!
- Dude, Rarity basically just dropped a career in Cocos lap. A huge one. Like Damn, girl.
- Did Coco make that rainbow thread out of the velvet rope, or something? Same shimmer. Also, we've had way too many zoom ins now for them not to be building up to something. The Rainbow Thread doesn't even really constitute a mystery stinger, like the comic, Shadow Pony or Fluttershy's teeth did.
That was a really awesome episode! I'm glad it didn't turn into 'Cities are kind of terrible: The episode'. There was a bit of a chance of that during the song and with Suri, it looked like, but it was nice to get a little reaffirming, "People are generally not shit" message at the end. There were a couple of weird character moments - Rarity seems almost aggressively generous in her song, in a way we don't generally see from her, and again, Dash calling somepony out on being blunt - but really top-notch writing on the whole.

He shows up at 2:33 in the episode, top-left corner.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. You guys are clearly missing the point, his name is Rising Star!
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!So just got a chance to watch the episode. Best episode of season 4? Best episode of season 4.
- "I love jumping up and down" - and she even is jumping up and down during the opening song. Probably there before, but I never noticed it. I also never noticed Discord in Fluttershy's cottage before.
- Man, Rarity's giving out gems like candy
- Hinny of the Hills? Is that a reference to something?
- The mistreated assistant, in an episode about generosity? Heel–Face Turn incoming
- Not sure how pony pulled cabs are supposed to be any faster than just running. I mean if she had to carry the resses or something I'd understand it, but she explcitly didin't
- Wow, Rarity sure turned on them fast. But it's completely understandable
- Wet Mane Rarity again? Not sure if that was an intentional joke, but it feels like it had to be intentional.
- Are they really going to keep Rarity out of the next few episodes? But her episodes are always the best! Nooooooo
- Well that's convienent
- Aaaaand the stinger is thread
This was a suprisingly strange episode for me.
I have to admit, some of the dialogue, especially early on threw me for a bit. I guess it was because of how in your face this episode was about Rarity's generosity and how nice she and they all were. I mean, I guess it's nice see that their elements actually mean something outside the two-parters, but they could have been more subtle about it. Not to mention at this point it just feels like a weird thing to acknowledge now that the elements are back in the tree.
That said I did like the conflict as well as the new characters. The ending with the assistant I also thought was pretty powerful. It's one thing to get her friends forgiveness, but it's another to influence a complete stranger to come to your side. I wouldn't mind seeing Coco or some of the others show up later in the series. Speaking of the ending, I'm not expecting much to come of that rainbow spool, but time will tell.
Also, this is basically Guanxi: The Episode.
Oh yeah, that too.
I saw the trailer when I went to see Frozen. It was a weird mixture of Wat and so bizarre it might actually be funny.
Really? I missed that one.
Oh yeah, that was hilarious too.
Also, I just figured out who else says mkay a lot. Poly is the boss from Office Space.
Same here. I was actually surprised that Poly didin't mess with Rarity's dresses or make her late or something (well she sort of did at the end).
Yeah, their bill is going to be a nightmare.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Playok, this scene becomes freakin hilarious when you play it backwards.

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!I thought that was weird too. Maybe Rarity will just do the designs and let Coco do all the seweing work.
Yeah, the irises turned rainbow for a moment.
Weren't there seven. I think the blue thread was for RD. The rainbow thread is probably symbolic of their friendship.
P.S. Rarity fixing the wheel seems like it should have taken more than just straight TK. Maybe she has repair magic too?

https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qI will agree that the generosity theme during the episode was less than subtle, but most of the blatant stuff took place during the song, and musical numbers always tend to exaggerate a little.
Reaction Image Repository@Teeth Sometimes Anvils Need To Be Dropped...and this might have been a good reason.
