A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Agreed.
And it's a level TWO position! Which I'm surprised by.
And now I need to go. See you in a few hours.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Because I haven't seen either of the last two episodes, here goes! SUPERHEROES AWAY!
Spike is doing pretty much exactly what I do with ponyfic
And the supervillain sounds suspiciously like Rarity.
Oh Lord, they even have bumbling and useless sidekicks that totally aren't Roy the Super-Boy.
Fixing the castle. OMG CONTINUITY
It looks a lot less ominous when they go there during the day. Less like a haunted deathtrap and more like a frathouse deathtrap.
Pinkie's idea of "your other left" probably isn't entirely...Euclidean.
Oh boy. This is going to be a Spike's Imagination thing. Last time that happened Celestia had to call in the national guard.
WHOA WHOA! That comic is not approved by the safety board!
Everypony! Let's all get sucked in single-file instead of charging the swirling vortex only slightly stronger than any given one of us and yanking him out all at once!
Uh-oh. That lady has Sombreyes. Shit's about to get real.
Derpy spotted! SHE LIVES (in fiction)!
Pinkie's costume looks like Freakazoid. This can't be a coincidence.
Pinkie's superpower is to just keep being Pinkie Pie but wear spandex this time.
Who's a silly pony...
"Think of something and your bracelet makes it appear!" And then she thought of smashing pottery over Spike's head.
Rarity is the Jeigan of this episode. She picked that up in, like, seconds.
Neon signs are like the ultimate super secret base feng shui.
Rarity confirmed for Jeigan. Pink Lantern is so ridiculously OP.
...why did they all run directly into the hairspray without the slightest attempt at defense?

Well it's intended to be a lot longer, since there's an 8 month gap between the Derpy segment and the ending. But I was hoping that the existing parts could stay. Is there any way I could make it seem less rushed?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAs I said, it feels like a summary rather than a story. By that I mean there's a sentence or two amounting to this happened, then this, then that, like all the points you want to get across were marked off a checklist. There's little description or introspection, making the story feel lifeless.
For instance, we should be getting some idea of the scale of a ship crashing into the Forest, the broken ground, burning, and sense of destruction. Also Twilight's brief bit of dialogue all too quickly summarizes the event, it would work a lot better if we got to see more of that in person.
Also, the colonist's transition is very jarring, as we're suddenly in a ship within the space of a sentence, with no warning.
I'd suggest doubling it's length and rewriting the opening. These are just general things to improve it.
Ellen Kennedy. She's new to FIM.
What? Why haven't I heard about a Derpy cameo?
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out! It's pretty necessary. Otherwise the story is reduced to a series of disjointed scenes connected by the string of plot and making it obvious the characters are doing what they're doing because the plot says so. Description fills in the cracks and almost entirely dictates how well the story flows to the reader.
Speaking of, I have my Newyear's resolution. I'm going to get over my fears and write a story.

I think, anyway. The first shot of Maretropolis, you can see a gray pony on the street with blonde mane/tail and what looks like a bag on her head. It might just be shitty resolution BUT A GUY CAN DREAM.
Oh, Spike. Comic relief is a superpower. Today, buckets. Tomorrow...REALITY.
Oh shit, these villains actually watch their prisoners and reapply crowd control! Maretropolis is hosed.
Maneiac ascribes to the Ms. Harshwhinny School of Creepy Faces.
Why are her henchponies all wearing striped tanktops of questionable sexual orientation?
So Spike knocked over the hairspray, gassing the entire building. The story will now take a commercial break while everypony awkwardly waits for it to wear off and resume the climactic battle.

That was my reaction too.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayRarity, I don't think that's how you file bars out.
Applejack seems to have forgotten that her method of crowd control is intimidating in a 50's gangster way, but has the downside of actually using the psychic lasso and she doesn't have another one.
Fluttershy's hulking out. You know the drill, ponies. Head between legs, kiss ass goodbye. Where we're going, we don't need asses.
This looks kinda PONY.MOV. Also, why is she wearing a costume that doesn't stretch enough for her hulk form?

@ Pykrete: Okay, I see the pony you're talking about. It's hard to tell from that distance and with the low resolution, but it looks more like a generic pony with a yellow scarf on her head.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!So I've got a few nominees for the image repository.
Jesus Christ. Maneiac is going fucking Arkham over here. That's kinda dark for this show.
And now the Power Ponies get sucked out right after temporarily disabling all the villains. Five minutes later, they all wake up, realize the heroes vanished, and proceed to annihilate Maretropolis.

Hulking out always ripps your clothes anyway, no matter what you started with.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThe tears seemed pretty organized, to me. I figure the suit actually was cut that way, but you don't see it when it isn't stretched out fully.
The holes give it extra give... if that's something that can be done. I dunno.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.

Well hopefully it will at least provide something on your resume that will give you better luck in the future.
