I'd say mid 20's. It started to go downhill around the early/mid 90's. Before then it was actually pretty amusing.

The cartoon is alright to mention though.

And this brilliance.

Is it me, or are movies like... parasprites to the apples of the work in question?

My paper still runs Calvin & Hobbes, and it's kind of amazing how little I remember many of the late-period ones.

Though, I can't help feeling that some of them got a little too 'Let's make a point about important issues.' I still like them though.

It's been... gosh, seven years since I've read a Calvin And Hobbes book? To this day though, I could still accurately describe the dialogue and action to any strip just from the first panel. Calvin And Hobbes is the soundtrack to my childhood.

I don't have that C&H box set, but I do have all the individual books. I kinda want the box set, just for all the Sunday comics in color and the original material from the Indispensible, Authoritative, etc., volumes.

It's work like that that makes me wish I could read comics, if only for the sheer amount of love it gets.

I have most of the individual books, I think. They're probably somewhere at my dad's house.

Remember that winter storm / cold snap that hit half the US earlier this month? I left a bunch of energy drinks in my car trunk overnight then. By the next day, most of them had frozen and exploded.

I've had drinks freeze before, but I've never had one explode.

It's not a newspaper comic but if you haven't read The Adventures Of Dr Mc Ninja your life is simply not complete.

I have the entire box set and it is amazing. I also have the complete set of The Far Side.

Hey, I have both of those, too!

My family loved card games. Especially Oh Hell. And Bridge. My dad is nuts over Bridge. He basically trained my sister and I from when were little to be his Bridge partners. To the point that I get flustered when trying to play differently from how he taught us. He's a really good player. Often winning or at least doing well at his club and I don't take credit for that even when partnering him.

We used to play bridge, but my sister always ruined it by getting worrying about what to do.

Yeah, Calvin And Hobbes is basically the best thing.

@CDRW: In the same vein, there's Square Root Of Minus Garfield.

You might like it. I certainly find it one of the best S1 eps IMHO.

And the last time AJ managed to carry an episode solo.

I don't have any C&H, (it ended before I started reading comics) but we do have all but a halfbook of Foxtrot.

Calvin and Hobbes was great.

Also, my little sister is bugging me today. She's being a brat about her chores.

My brother is sick today, and at 2 PM I left to work at mom's shop. Which I told her twice before I left. My sister didn't feed the dog. She says no one told her to, and somehow she didn't know I was gone so she thought I did it. I can't imagine how she didn't know I was at the shop.

Mom took her iPod away and said she has to take care of the dog, and mama cat (who we are still keeping on our back porch). She repeatedly asked me to do it. Mom came down and told me specifically not to do it, but my sister said it's my job. Even though I was at the shop for 4 hours today. Mom told her that it's her responsibility to feed them both from now on.

And guess what she said to me immediately after that.

"Can you do it?"
