A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

My family loved card games. Especially Oh Hell. And Bridge. My dad is nuts over Bridge. He basically trained my sister and I from when were little to be his Bridge partners. To the point that I get flustered when trying to play differently from how he taught us. He's a really good player. Often winning or at least doing well at his club and I don't take credit for that even when partnering him.
@Sereg: So basically, it's only the two of a kind, three of a kind and four of a kind?
That's kind of interesting... what do you wager for the bets, though? The theme of it, pie, doesn't really lend itself to a more adult crowd, but a younger crowd wouldn't be expected to bet money. If you could wager cards, that would be interesting, because it introduces a strategy of exactly which cards you want to give up, knowing that they could help someone out in the next round - like, whoever gets the cards then has 'more pie', and at the end of the game the person with the most pie wins, but they can draw from their winnings? Otherwise the betting system doesn't really have a point to being there, because like I said, the likely target audience wouldn't be interested in betting - or even understand it, actually. I've played poker with younger kids before, they tended to be all-in by the end of the first or second round, maximum.
Also, how do the comparative fractions work? Does a hand with a pair of 1/2 cards beat a hand with three 1/4 cards?
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Heh, sorry for disappearing quite some, been working on a website (Crossover Connections
) and been trying to look for my tablet's pen, which I accidentally misplaced.
How's everyone?
I intended for it to be playable for money. Not that I would. My family used toplay for matchsticks and marshmallows. Or you could play for ACTUAL PIE! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Okay. Yeah. Whatever.
Yeah, 2 halves is a full pie so it beats three quarters
But four quarters has more slices so it beats two halves.
It goes amount of pie then number of slices in terms of prefference (But you can't mix up fractions, so no adding a half and a quarter to get three quarters of a pie)
EDIT:
Looks like it could be interesting. Things are good here.

@Sereg: Okay, that makes sense.
I'm actually working on a cardgame of my own, for my portfolio. I don't really intend to do anything with it - I mean, ideally it's good enough I could sell it to someone, but in truth I don't think there'd be much of a market for it. It's mostly just to show off documentation and prototyping skills, since those are really important in the lower levels of design.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I'd like to play French Tarot some time. In addition to using a cool deck, it appears to be a trick-taking game. It's a bit like Hearts, except you want points, and a good deal of points can be made by making as big a boast as you can and then pulling it off.
"I'll be the solo player this time"
"no, I will. I'll play without looking at my bonus pile, and will bet double points on this round."
"no, I'll play without using the bonus pile, and I'll bet three times the points!"
"oh yeah? Well, I'll give you guys the bonus pile, bet four times as much, and I'll declare right now that I will win every hand!

I have a message from another time...tonight on the Pony Thread: card games.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Well, card games ARE tabletop games, strictly speaking.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Seems like it would be difficult on account of the dice, too... then again, as long as you aren't playing with douchebags I guess it wouldn't be too much of a problem.
Unless they make Braille dice? Seems like that would affect the roll somewhat.

Perhaps someone only needed one wing?
