A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

No it was never a "package deal" there was nothing in the spell itself that required Fluttershy to get batted. they needed to have the bats attention, they decided to use The Stare, there was nothing in the spell requiring that specific thing to be used, it was just what they went with. Nothing, at all, inherent to the spell required Fluttershy.
The spell then had an odd interaction with the Stare, causing the vampness that was drained from the bats to go to her, instead of where it normally would. Again, this was NOT a part of the spell itself, but an unforeseen interaction with The Stare. had they used another means of getting their attention, it would have worked fine.
Since nothing, inherent to the spell itself, require Fluttershy to get vampped, there is no reason that undoing the vamping would undo the rest of the spell, unless it is specifically stated as such, which it was not. The vampness, simply dissipates, or goes wherever it would have had the spell worked right the first time.
And no it was never just two options like that. Brainwash or sanctuary. It was, Get rid of the bats, or let them stay. Aj wanted them gone, completely, off the farm. Fluttershy to let them just go on ruining her friends entire livelihood. Since she proved she couldn't control them when they let her try. Twilight's solution was a compromise. Let them stay, but stop them from ruining the apples. If, again IF, that did in fact fail, there was still no reason given for AJ to switch her view on the bats and not simply start using harsher measures to get them off her farm. Further, it makes no sense on how they managed to get the bats to stay in just that one area, instead of ruining the entire orchard. That is never explained.
They decided to use the Stare because it garanteed full attention. If there was an easier way, they wouldn't have bothered Fluttershy with it at all. I think you're focusing on parts of the episode that were not meant to be focused on, and were kept vague and unexplained because of that reason.
But I'm done debating, because I clearly suck at it compared to others. I have yet to persuade anyone of anything on this forum, so I may as well stop now.
I knew what you meant. I'm just a fan of etymology and using it to construct new words for new fantasy creatures, rather than expanding the definitions of words that have specific meanings.
I still think Sonic Unleashed should have used "ílwolf" rather than "werehog". What's that, the target audience doesn't know that íl is Old English for hedgehog? Well, the target audience didn't have any idea what an echidna was either—and that game debuted back when the majority of the target audience didn't have internet access.

I checked the next episode's summary on my tv box, adn it said something along the lines of her design getting stolen by some jerk who took advantage of her generosity. Not sure if AT&T is accurate though.
