A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

So are you suggesting that Twi manually reverted the spell on the fruit bats as well?
I think that's probably it. I beleived Fluttershy after the song.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIt has nothing to do with believing Fluttershy. but all we have is her one, vague statement, with NO evidence to back it up, and no explanation on how it would work.
Versus the very real, very explicit destruction of quite a large amount of apple trees in just one day. They were a threat, period, and there is STILL no explanation for how they know the bats are just going to stay in that one little area, and not just keep on destroying everything.
We also have no explanation for why the bats are back to drinking fruit. Again, It was NOT the spell that did that to Flutterbat, so there is no reason given undoing the transformation would effect them.
@ Sereg, agreed, but that's assuming these were advanced enough, which I really don't see.
How long will it take you to realize what is stated, supported and implied is often subjective and highly variable?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayOk, Seraphem. This is what happened.
Twilight's brainwashing spell required the bats' undivided attention to work, which Fluttershy provided by using the stare. Not using the stare makes it impossible to brainwash them in the first place. Therefore it is impossible to not hit Fluttershy while brainwashing the bats. It's a package deal, as someone said. The two events are linked, and one part of the spell can't be cancelled without the other. As soon as they fixed Fluttershy, the bats became a problem again, meaning that the spell was no longer an option, and since the episode only gave us two options to fix the problem, Fluttershy's sanctuary won out. You can't assume there was another, better option if the episode never gave one. In-story, it makes perfect sense.

How are the two at all the same? I'm not saying the bats make no sense. They actually DO I'm saying the story did a really bad job explaining it, and WHY AJ did a complete 180 on her position on them. To to mention how the hell they were going to keep the bats on that one little parcel, and prove that losing these trees was a benefit.
