A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

At the moment I'm playing through Lego Pirates of the Caribbean at the moment so it'll take a while before I get around to Sonic Rush. And ya wanna know something? I really didn't think I was gonna get Disney Infinity just because of how expensive the damn thing is but come Christmas day and like how I got Portal 2 on Christmas day last year, Disney Infinity just came out of fucking nowhere for me.

Are Kindle fires really that great? :l (doesn't get the appeal of tablets)

It depends on what you want it for. If you only want to read books, I think the eink Kindles are way better. I have a Kindle 4 and it's great. The battery lasts for weeks, there's little glare even in direct sunlight, and it's cheaper than a tablet.

I got money, a few dvds, two videogames, and new slippers. Pretty good haul.

I wanted to state my opinion on the CMC getting their marks. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!! I know I sound mean, but this is like SpongeBob's goal of driving and Baloo buying back the Sea Duck, they will never show it during the series. It's one of those things that they dangle in front of viewers that they never plan on having happen during the show. Nuff said.

I think it could happen in a finale-type episode, but it would be highly unlikely that they'd do it and then continue the series after.

Not necessarily. I mean Michael found out who burned him and left Miami after a couple seasons. It's not impossible. And the CMC's cutie mark thing isn't a driving element of the show like it was with Burn Notice either. I can easily see them getting cutie marks eventually.

I can't agree with this after season 3's finale

That too. They haven't been afraid the alter the status quo before.

Yeah, I'll bet it's going to happen in the series finale. Hopefully in a movie, to give it the pathos it needs. Fi M writers don't just drop a plot thread. Sure they love to make things ambiguous and only use the bare minimum of implications to move the story along, but they always eventually come back to it later.

Season 4 in particular is looking like a concentrated effort on the part of the writers to create stronger continuity, making things a bit more cohesive and shaking off the last traces of season 1 that restricted things.

It's funny looking back on fanon wherein pretty much everyone took Celestia and Luna as goddesses as pretty solid fact, the only bits of continuity the show made was the rather thin Gala connection, Equestria was much smaller in character population, and you could pretty much go in whatever direction in terms of world building you liked with so little to go off on.

I never saw Celestia and Luna as goddesses. Nor did I ever see them as immortal.

Which is ironic, as most people here see them as far less powerful than I do.

I stand by what I said for this reason, despite the individual growth the CMC acts as one character in general. And their quest is not meant to be changed as they aren't the Mane 6. As such, they remind me of Plankton with his goal of getting a Krabby Patty, or Wile E.'s chase of the Road Runner. While Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo might grow individually, as group their marks will only come at the end of the show, if then.

Also a lot lower tech level (in general) in season 1.

But the CMC already went through character development. They barely even care about C Ms anymore.

Heck they straight up rolled their eyes and just ignored the usual blank flank spats. Even Diamond and Spoony have a bit of development to them when they realize themselves the taunting's getting old and admitting the CMC actually have a good shot at winning. Contrast this with the Show Stoppers.

But they still brought it up at the end. I'm not saying there won't be stories about the CMC that don't involve them getting their marks, I'm just saying the likelihood of them getting their marks on camera is incredibly low.

That would acutally be an interesting premise. They all get C Ms and worry about not being friends anymore, only to realize that their friendship has grown much deeper than that.

Could also be a nice Bookends if it's at the end of the season, similar to how the Mane Six realized that the Elements may have brought them together, but their friendship has evolved beyond that. I mean really the CMC rarely bring them up, they find other things to bond over at this point.

I think the last time they were shown seriously crusading was Show Stoppers. Presuambly they got tired after that. Nowadays, it's just 'let's do something fun'. 'hey maybe we'll get cutie marks from it!'

@Enlong: That was only for a day though. If things had gone longer, I could easily have seen a rift forming as Apple Bloom wants to do fun stuff while Scoots and Sweetie want to keep crusading.

Does anyone remember if Equestria has volcanos? The closest I can think of is the Daring Do sequence in Read It And Weep.
