A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Someone would bludgeon the turtle with a record player.

I haven't actually read GEB, so the presumed reference is lost on me.

1) It's good to see more volunteers for the Round Robin fic. I'm not volunteering because my writing skills are crap.

2) None of us will ever see the finished product, because we will have all died from old age. tongue

1000 words limit will be difficult because I'm into lenghty descriptions, but I'll try.

I don't think there's a strict 1000 word limit. Just don't turn it into Fallout: Equestria.

@Luminosity: The word limit was mainly to keep people from taking forever to write ginormous amounts. You can go over by a bit so long as you do it relatively quickly. Still, we don't want it to be really long, though.

Yeah, there's no strict word count that you have to meet. Just make sure you write enough that it contributes to the story, and not so much that it becomes its own story.

In other news, the most surreal thing just happened to me. I just got a package from some sales company in New Jersey that I sure don't remember ordering. I open it up, and I find a 3-pound, 300-page book of fairy tales. Like Cinderella, Rapunzel, stuff like that.

It couldn't have been just shipped to the wrong person, because it's my name and address on the package, and the address was actually wrong, then scribbled over so that it's right. I'm so confused.

You'd probably be like the 5th worst person, tops. Come on, I've never even written a fanfic before.

In other news, I took the NY Times accent test. Apparently I'm most similar to Maine and California and completely unlike the southeast despite having parents from Michigan and growing up in Georgia.

I took that thing and it put me in Maine, with similarities to most of the east coast. Which makes sense, as I grew up there.

I think the weirdest part is that it claimed that 'firefly' is highly specific to some towns in California.

Anyway, I wonder if widespread travel and the internet is skewing the figures nowadays. I probably have influences from all over.

[up][up]The test told me I sounded like I was from either somewhere in Southern Florida, or San Jose California. I'm from New York and moved to Texas. It did get the costal city part right though. tongue

They matched me up with Colorado Springs and Wichita. That's... a few states east.

Did the accent test. Apparently my accent is most closely from either Amarillo, Texas or Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Neither of which are accurate in the least.

Alright, so here's why I asked about the image uploading website.

It's a picture of my desktop. (for Dark, it's a picture of rainbow dash and her cutie mark on a plain blue background, with some stats on the side of the screen, including the current time, date and weather).

I took the accent test. I realize I hardly have a thick Texas accent (I ardently refuse to say "y'all"), but I was still a bit surprised when they matched me with San Jose, Corona, and Anchorage. All of which was based on how I call those bioluminescent insects "fireflies". I've never heard anyone around here call them anything else.
