A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I'd replace that with horseshoe.
Anyway, just finished a rewatch of Aladin, and I'd say it's the happiest film in the canon. From all the antics of Genie who's so over the top and fun he takes hammieness to an art form, Aladin's trickster tendencies making great slapstick, everyone getting fantasticly witty dialogue, some of the very best music Disney ever produced, the whole package is just fun.
Prince Ali, mighty is he, Ali Ababwa! Strong as ten regular men, definitely! You ain't never had a friend like me! A whooooole neeeew woooorld... Yeah the music's going to be bouncing around in my head for a while.
@Seraphem: Chill out. His observation is pretty accurate, all things considered. The fandom is really nitpicky. And I hate to be that guy, but you do have a track record of breaking into rants any time... certain subjects are mentioned, and it comes across a bit as the pot calling the kettle black. His comment wasn't even harsh or anything. You're overreacting more than he is.
@Dark: Yeah, that movie had amazing songs.

Yes totally not what it looks like. We were just planning on how to emotionally abuse and psychologically attack other ponies for no reason but petty jealousy using things that are not their fault, will really hurt them for us to bring up, and might cause them to sink into a deep depression. All just because we are petty, self-centered brats.
We total weren't making out with each other, that would be wrong.

A bit of fridge logic about Saddle Rager: If her whole gig is transforming into the Hulk and can pretty much reliably use it as a weapon, why hasn't she acquired a costume that doesn't get ripped to shreds whenever she fights yet? It seems silly to have to get a new one every time she transforms back. She seems to have more control than Bruce Banner if she's considered a Power Pony while untransformed anyway...
Oooh! I came up with a couple more origin stories I forgot to mention last night. Radiance was a jeweler who came across a magical meteorite. The carved jewelry from it and found that it responded to her magic and allowed her to create magical constructs.
The Masked Matter-horn was experimenting with ways to increase unicorn spell diversity. She damaged her horns ability to use magic normally (explaining Twilight's nerfing), but with a plate of magical metal she created during the experiment, her horn can fire multiple types of magical beams.
Saddle Rager still has an insect motif, so, I'm guessing stung by a wasp coated in chemicals. Her anger activates the chemically enhanced venom and begins her metamorphosis.
Humdrum is an orphan the Power Ponies rescued who asks to help out.
So, just Filli-second left ... Fillisecond liked nightclubs. In an intense thunderstorm, a bunch of neon lights collapsed on top of her and she was struck by lightning, while surrounded by magical neon lights. Together, they charged her with lightning-speed!
That's all of them (threw in the last few right now).
I'm sure the Mane-iac had other things, or other ways of being a threat. After all, she only really lost because Saddle Rager lost it.

And no, it's not. Some might have occasional issues with a few small groups, but they all seem to realize it's just a small, loud minority and ignore them. While freely loving the rest of the fandom.
now, Hasbro's legal department on the other hand......

What I assumed.
@Smasher: If Lauren hates us, that's new. She's loved bronies in general.
We're basically told that The Mane-iac isn't the Power Ponies' only enemy. Just their most evil' one. She seems to be less of a threat due to her powers and more due to her gadgets and less than sane plans. She fulfills the Joker's role, mostly.
EDIT: What they said.
Also, yeah, The Mane-iac did fairly well anyway, against six superbeings considering they included individuals with more useful powers.

I can't think of a good in-comic reason for the Rager's outfit, unless Fluttershy managed to rage harder than is normal for the character, and thus grow more?
Out-of-comic, it may just be he writers of he comic appealing to... certain factions of their readerbase. Or, more innocently, they may just consider costumes tearing to be an integral part of a size-changing hero. Can't have a dramatic closeup of muscles expanding without them breaking the bonds of cloth, or something.
And no way does Lauren hate the periphery demographic. For one hing, she was apparently trying to make a girl's show that was a good enough show to attract other viewers; she doesn't like the stigma of girls' shows only being capable of appealing to little girls, when boys' shows can tend to have larger audiences.
Secondly, there's the little matter of her offering new characters to what Fighting Is Magic has become after the C&D.
I have a message from another time...It's just funny how Sera and I are so often on opposite sides.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play
In fact, I have an idea I want to use in a fanfic, that the princesses and the royal guard knew about changelings, and the planned attack on the royal wedding, beforehand. They secretly recruited changelings—ones who were believed to be loyal to Equestria—to help detect the foreign insurgents. Unfortunately, the plan went horribly wrong. Shining Armor oversaw the changeling recruits, and Chrysalis had already replaced Cadance by that point. Chryssi used her influence over Shining to make sure that the changeling task force was filled with changelings from her hive. Oops.
you should see us when a new episode airs.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

@Marston, seriously, just, stop overreacting to every, little, thing. Anytime anyone says anything negative, any little issue is raised by a single person, you start all gloom and doom and "damnit fandom"
If all you ever do is try to find the worst thing to freak out over, that's all your going to find.
