A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

@Story That one is debatable but could be possible for some comic store owners.

Marcen: Well, an alternate title for the whole trilogy could probably have been The Hobbit: An Unexpected Peter Jackson Fanfic.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a picture to use as the cover for a fanfic that's about a battle of wits between Chrysalis and Celestia. Do any of you know something good I could use?

Speaking of fanfiction, does anyone have a fanfiction account?

Weren't they unable to get film rights to the Similarrion? So the filler is actually stuff from other works, not The Similarrion proper.

I'm afraid I only use my fanfiction account to keep track of stories I'm reading. All the stuff I've written is over on fimfiction, under the same username I have here.

The Silmarillion would be tough to make into a single movie. It would be like trying to adapt an entire history book.

The only fanfic I've actually written was the chapter in the round robin fanfic, and that's obviously not available yet.

You could go with a high budget mini series, or have a string of movies.

What JT said.

Also, I assume that you're more interested in my pony stuff which looks better at my fimfic page. It has a link to my fanfiction.net page if you'd prefer to read them there or if you want to see my other work.

Are there precedents with other history books that have been filmed?

And speaking of LOTR, what do you guys prefer? The theatrical releases or the extended cut?

@Marcne Defiantly theatrical releases. I mean the films are long enough as it is I cannot be assed to just watch some extended content of the same film. If I wanted to see deleted scenes that WEREN'T in the film or are just extensions on a scene that doesn't really needed to be extend then I'd go watch the content on You Tube.

Remember when we were talking about pet peeve tropes a little while back? I just found another one that I really hate: Small Steps Hero. I didn't know it was a trope, but it's always really annoyed me.

@Star I thought the theatrical versions were long enough, especially the 3rd one. Later on, a friend told me about the extended editions and I'm like, "THERE'S MORE?!"

@Marcen Well be thankful ya not trying to do a marathon of all 3 of those movies which is pretty much just asking to be kicked in the balls for a daunting task like that. Seriously you will not get pass the second movie without falling asleep or losing interest in watching the film during the marathon. But then again Lord of the Rings is not exactly the fastest movie trilogy anyway.

The combined running time of all three extended versions is just shy of 12 hours. I have all three and I've never tried to marathon them.

Funny enough, if you skipped the appendecies and fluff here and there, you could finish the books faster than the movie trilogy.

@Marcen That's because the Twilight Saga doesn't take so fucking long to finish compared to the Lord of the Rings.
