A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

...That explains her terrible behavior
That is Cosmic magic, not local magic, also presumably we're talking about local spells that change the nature of the immediate environment, like, say, material transmutations (Apples to Oranges, for example), which could mess with the quality of food in a subtle way, or things that manipulate the flow of wind and water, which would have longterm effects when used during the Change of Seasons.
Even something as subtle as a lighting spell could mess with the biological clocks of the wildlife, livestock, and crops, and Earth Ponies hate that when it happens.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Perhaps Earth Pony-centric places forbid Unicorn Magic because of their agricultural needs as I mentioned. Canterlot isn't a farming town, so the taboo doesn't exist there.

Maybe they just decided to all get together and prank Twilight since she's new in town.
There is no other purpose in the episode than building up E Games. Well, besides "Nope, Scoots still can't fly", I guess.
Filler? ![]()

Again with the 'filler' thing.
There IS no filler! Ever single episode is.. it's how the hell is anything Filler? It doesn't freaking matter if it advances some larger story, that is NEVER the type of show this was. there can't BE filler in a serious, where nearly every single episode is meant to be it's own self contained story.
And just dismissing it as "meh it's filler" and moving on... what!?
Just let it go :V I cannot take anyone who dismisses things as filler too seriously unless they're talking about shonen shows with major story arcs seperated by pointless animation-only content that does nothing for character development or plot.

Really, any episode that doesn't deal with the box could probably be considered filler. NEXT episode may as well be filler for all we know. Ponies getting sucked into a comic book is an event the series could ignore forever with little effect on the main storyline, now couldn't it?

re: Glittershell, it's so far undetermined in the... what would you call a tumblr's continuity? Comic? Storyline? Whatever, either way, it's undetermined so far whether Snails is just a crossdresser, or full-on transgendered. Even s/he doesn't know yet, but s/he is at the least definitely bicurious.
edit: On a totally different note, it just occurred to me: why are pegasi allowed to use their wings during Winter Wrap-Up if the unicorns can't use their horns?
edit 2: So apparently all it took to get my computer running again was blowing in the power supply's vent. Well, that was a whole day of frustration well-spent. :P
