A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

So just saw the episode. Nothing really stood out, but it wasn't bad either.
Thoughts:
- I'm rooting for you too, Snips and Snails
- If the CCM can walk in circles around each other with their eyes closed, that's pretty impressive already
- Also, they do know what horses are apparently.
I just watched a Youtube version of it and liked it pretty much. I was very relieved that they didn't go for a "if you try hard enough you can magically stop being disabled!" thing, because I was a little scared they might do that. I know that it wasn't likely, but I had originally assumed that Pinkie wouldn't pester Cranky Doodle Donkey into being her friend, and was very disappointed and angry when she did just that. Instead, we got a better message that showed that even if she can't fly, Scootaloo still can have other talents, like using her wings to propel herself to go extremely fast, and she's also probably stronger than the average young pegasus her size, since she was able to pull the other two CMC along with her! I liked that it doesn't matter if she can't fly, and especially that Rainbow Dash was the one to tell her that, since Rainbow's talent is her own fast flying, so it probably means even more for a pony like her to say that rather than someone like Fluttershy who has often been a weak flyer herself.
I also liked that the CMC learned more about being assertive towards Diamond Tiara, and stood up to her in a very good way, being able to confront those two snobs in a very mature way, I think, especially the first time before Diamond Tiara unfortunately struck right at something Scootaloo is sensitive about. I'm especially impressed with Apple Bloom, she's come a long way from the filly who was so easily convinced that Granny Smith was embarrassing just because Diamond Tiara said so. They did better than I probably do even now, when I was in junior high/high school I always had the problem of getting angry and acting out in ways that meant that I got punished for reacting (and often felt like the bullies were getting off free even though they started it).
I sympathize with Roid Rage too. I used to be scared of butterflies and moths until not too long ago. I was mainly scared of looking at pictures of their scales, especially the startling eyespots, and even now I have to look at those kind of pictures slowly and know that's what the picture is going to be. Oddly enough, when the scales are zoomed in enough that you can't see the pattern they form, it doesn't scare me as much, and I'm not quite sure why. I also didn't like them to touch me (probably because they tickle) and was creeped out by the way they fly rather erratically, at least from a human's point of view. They're still not necessarily a favorite animal of mine, but I'm mostly over that fear, but I can certainly sympathize with Roid Rage being scared of them. That makes me want to build on that, maybe something where Fluttershy helps him deal with his butterfly phobia since she would know what it's like to be scared of things in general.

I still always get confused when people call him that. I guess it's because Snowflake doesn't really have anything to do with him apart from coat color, so it's difficult to connect mentally. But whatever.
I didn't think so. The timing just doesn't fit on a meta level.
Not the only one.
Coincidently, I started watching Archer yesterday.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayInteresting. I never knew the markup worked that way.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI don't know why, but for whatever reason I kind of like Diamond and Spoony more so after the episode. Their constant bitchieness in the face of how sugary Equestria is and having no effect on the CMC anymore is just a little charming. That sort of dedication takes real effort. Also, I wish we could have seen their performance, it might have actually been pretty good for all we know.
@Dark; You don't become a Prime Evil by going soft.
And Prime Evils are not blank flanks.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!I'm...not really referencing anything. I guess you could say I'm referencing Diablo, but I wasn't thinking it...ya know, DT is evil. She's prime ev...bah, you're ruining my joke!
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!I've felt pretty sleepy today myself. Perhaps getting up two hours early had something to do with it.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI thought the new episode was ok. The best CMC episode but not by much. I smiled a lot but, what I didn't like was that they didn't realize that the bully was screwing them, even though they should be smart enough of realize what they're doing.

Technically, they can be different subspecies. In any case, ponies are treated as a separate species all their own in show.
