A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I'm going to bed. Don't know if I'll make the livestream tomorrow, as I have family things to do, but if not I'll watch it on youtube.
See you guys later.
I'm going to bed... actually it's probably gonna be an hour. But mom is turning off the wifi soon, so I'll see you all tomorrow afternoon.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/They haven't really been focused on cutie marks since season 1.
Also just gave Braid a try. It's surprisingly good even though I already had most of it spoiled long ago. I especially like the music.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Story: Depends on what you're looking for in a game. They're both very good games, but they're good for very different reasons.
Brutal Legends is very good on an aesthetic level - assuming you like the style of Jack Black. Unfortunately, mechanically it's a bit hap-slash. The initial mechanics it introduces - hack and slash and the tiniest bit of rhythm games - don't actually amount to THAT much in terms of the storyline missions, and as a result you have this weird dichotomy where you're playing in one way for everything between the missions, and at the most important times it switches over to a mechanic that you don't always have the time to get familiar with. Even up until the final encounter I still never got a handle on all the mechanics of the RTS elements. All of the mechanics are good, individually, but the game doesn't mesh them together as well as it could. This is of course due to how much content was obviously cut - the pacing of the game changes drastically between the first and second halves, with the first being very slowly paced and building up the world through side missions, and the second half just barrels you through it, throwing you from one RTS encounter to the next until it feels like the end sneaks up on you. However, it does a really good job of building the world around it, the dialogue and characters are entertaining, and it all feels very... big.
Trine 2 is much more solid from a mechanical standpoint, but that's kinda all there is to it. There's lip-service paid to the story, but it really only comes up to any real degree in the last few levels. Generally, there's not much to it beyond puzzle solving. Which is fine; they're well-designed puzzles and the mechanics are fun to play. But aside from the surface elements it feels like it's lacking in substance. Depending on how gracious you are, the mechanics themselves are pretty cut-and-dry, and the only thing really unique about it is the combined aspect. But, from the standards of being, well, a game, it's very good, undeniably more cohesive than Brutal Legends, but less meaty.
So yeah. Trine is solidly designed, but simple, Brutal Legends has flaws but has lots of juice to it. Depends on what you're looking for.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. To look more closely, I think that the element of Magic ties specifically into either the desire for, or the faith in, friendship. Note the moment when Twilight first realizes what the elements are. Or exactly what moment places her in Discord's power and robs her of her element.
And it makes sense as an integral part of the whole harmony thing. Interestingly, it's both possibly the most important, and the weakest alone. Without it, one wouldn't seek the other elements, and couldn't bring them together. But without the other elements, it alone is powerless.
Is this in response to what I wrote?
Because I was more analyzing how the the Elements might be grouped together.
Number of electrons in outer orbital is a popular choice.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayHeh.
But really, they do seem to correspond to the show's favorite Friend-ships.
Fluttershy and Rarity always hang, and their elements go together the best. Applejack and Rainbow Dash also hang out, and they both are the elements based on trust. Now, we need to see Pinkie Pie and Twilight hanging out more.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Just saw a video thanks to EQD:
My new headcanon is that that is what all the ponies really sound like. The episodes are just translated into English for the viewers' convenience.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! On the latest episode of "Grimm", someone stole a "My Little Princess" mp3 player. I doubt this was a reference to a 2010 French-Romanian drama.

Apply for shit, even if you think you aren't qualified. It's the company's decision if you're qualified or not, and if they decide that you're good enough to give a shot, then it's your responsibility to prove them right. Don't need a piece of paper to do that.
looks it up
It was a post by Kegisak urging Applelight to apply to jobs even if he doesn't think he's qualified.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Ace: Ponies hiding? I'll let it slide this time. This episode ought to be contentious.
