I should dig out my old consoles sometime. They were still working when they went into storage, anyway. In the very least, I'd think any of the cartridges with save slots will probably have had the battery killed by being stored in the cold for so many winters, though.

Where everyone else here talks about nostalgia around TV shows, the consoles are pretty much where my equivalent nostalgia is. I had a NES, SNES, Genesis (with that awful Sega CD attachment) and Turbo Graffix.

EDIT: Been a while, but... page-topper fave link!

Say what you will about the cheap add ons to keep the Genesis adrift, but Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix were legitimately good and good-looking games.

Speaking of, I've got working copies of Ristar and Vectorman.

My GBC still works, but all the cartridge batteries are dead so my savefiles are gone.

Dark: Yeah, I do have to admit it did have some good points. I mean, we did get LUNAR out of the Sega CD too, although it was a bit of a slog to play. That wasn't quite the fault of the game, though, given that the pitiful (even for its time) 1x CD-ROM caused 3 minute load times between screens in all of the games I had.

EDIT: [up] I've still got an original Gameboy and it's still ticking despite the abuse it's taken over the years showing up as hairline cracks in the screen. Oddly enough, I don't think I had any carts for it with save files.

[up][up][up] I don't have a Sega Genesis(damn things kept breaking, the first one I got broke literally on the first day I opened it), but I've got pleny of working catridges. My favourite is Aero The Acro-Bat 2.

Story: Wait, yeah, I did. Hmmm, makes me wonder if the battery is still alive there, then. I know a few years back my friend's FF Legends games were still okay. And unlike my non-portable old games, Pokemon has the benefit of not spending a lot of time in the cold. Maybe I'll have to pop it into my DS sometime.

@Meta: That's pretty much a spot-on summary of Fluttershy's development in that episode.

Do you have it hidden away at home or something? You should check. I bet the battery's probably dead though.

Today, I woke up as just another regular zombie, but now this zombie is... a star! cool

Or at least a guy in a commercial. One guy among a few other people. Or maybe one guy among many other people.

So less of a star and more of... an asteroid, I guess?

I'm having that battery problem with some of my GBA carts. Most aggravatingly, with Fire Emblem 7.

I was halfway through Hector's Hard Mode when it died. T-T

Pokemon Red and Blue games last longer than Gold and Silver games. See Gold and Silver had a built in clock function and that constantly drains the cartridges built-in battery. So I have a copy of Pokemon Red that still has all the data from years ago, but my copy of Gold can only be played fro a bout 15 minutes before it dies and all the data gets deleted.

And here's a shocker - I never played Pokemon until late gen 4. Not from the lack of trying on my part though, I loved the anime and watched it from episode 1 exactly back when it aired - but no Gameboys were ever shipped in Russia, so I found out it was based on games only when I got internet and emulators avalable to me.

Weird. My Blue, Yellow, and Silver are all completely gone.

My Pokemon Red actually died after just a few years. I was so upset, my dad actually opened the cart up and put in a new battery. He couldn't put the same screw back in, so he substituted another one that didn't fit quite flush. My GBC and GBA both have little grooves in their cart slots as a result.

@Syd, story: Some clothing store that's opening up soon around here. Can't remember what the name is. All I know is they wanted some people to play instruments in a shot in front of the store, so they asked my school's band if anyone would be up for it. No clue what the final thing will look like.

I've been reading too many posts by flat-out crazy people on a (non-TV Tropes) political forum. One thinks Sandy Hook is a hoax, and fills his posts with gleeful, mocking smilies. One thinks everyone who disagrees with him (pretty much everyone) is an "agent troll". One thinks the planes that crashed into the Twin Towers on 9/11 were CGI fakery. One thinks the limo driver killed JFK. One thinks he's being persecuted by "The Feds", and that they control everything, right down to the weather. Everything that happens, happens because they want to "eliminate" him.

GAAAAAH!!!

Yes, I return here, of all places, for sanity. tongue
