A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Never really cared about it to begin with. My only experience with them is that I dimly remember my Dad renting the original Star Wars on VHS to show me as a kid.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWell using the same avatars as other posters did make things confusing.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI used to have a Blockbusters near me. In fact, I'm at the library right now and a few steps away used to be a Blockbusters...which is now a dollar store. I only bought one thing from there and that was God Of War for PS 2. I passed by there for the monthly magazine...wait, I bought a movie called Watching The Detectives for 2 dollars. Now, whenever I pass by the dollar store, I see the video slot, proving that Blockbusters used to be there...now all I have are memories...anypony else have any good memories?
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qI don't have any memories of Blockbuster specifically, but I do have some nostalgia for those old VHS tapes. Remember the message at the start about it being reformatted to fit your screen?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayNeither do I, the memories I recall of Blockbusters is that I rented out a couple of movies on the odd occasion. Just recently I rented out Team America, The Hangover and remember buying the original Karate Kid a few years back along with renting out Pinocchio making one the infamous moments in my life which I don't want to go into. Not the renting Pinocchio thing but something else.
"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus Prime@Lumin Blockbusters was a video store that, what I'm hearing right now, is a not-very good store that recently went out of business.
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qIt's not so much that it was a bad store so much as it just couldn't adapt enough. Back in the days before video streaming was possible, renting was the only way to watch movies at home without buying them. Then Netflix got popular, and made it far easier and more convenient (you didn't have to drive to the store any more), and Blockbuster started to die out. Then streaming got big and it basically couldn't keep going. It wasn't able to make the jump to digital distribution and the niche got filled by stuff like Netflix and Hulu before it caught up.

Reaction Image RepositoryNo. What actually happened is that CDRW got temporarily banned for making a sarcastic comment in OTC and the mods told him to stop using sockpuppets, IIRC.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah things like Netflix, Hulu and whatnot are now the go to services when it comes to renting/buying movies and TV shows. And seeing as Blockbuster can't really keep up with them it was only a matter of time before they had to shut their business down.
@Story I guess. But again that happened when I wasn't a member so yeah.

"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus PrimeThe Blockbuster that used to be around here has been closed for a really long time, so the news that the last few holdouts are finally done doesn't surprise me. I tended not to rent too much from, though. I rarely watched movies and wasn't really on the fence enough about a video game to need to try it through them first. I don't even remember if I snagged anything from them when they had their big closing-down liquidation sale.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiWe (possibly) all could agree that video renting was nostalgic. We all will (kind of) miss it.

I don't care nearly enough.
