A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

... I don't even
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI think there's a chance they'll get cutie marks eventually. There have been some pretty status quo shaking stuff already.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, if they can give Twilight wings, they can give the CMC cutie marks. I still hope one gets it first so there will be an internal conflict.
Reaction Image RepositoryI see it even odds going either way. Because if it happens as part of a larger plot, rather than the main focus, then they'll all be getting theirs simultaneously.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIt just occured o me that FPK could probably have avoided a lot of the confusion if, jus before the jump, Pinkie had instead said something like "You have to trust me!"
Same meaning in conext, but the presence o the word "faith" triggered some connotations that the writers didn't intend.
Yes, they lose the pun they had with Twilight taking a literal leap, but one ha to weigh the pros and cons with these things.
And the letter to Celesia could have done with a bit of revising. Perhaps something along the lines of "Today I learned that you should never be afraid of learning something new, even if it seems silly at first. I learned that you can learn a lot from your friends, and how important trust and understanding is to a strong friendship."

I have a message from another time...
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on it.
EDIT: Turns out that RD had a good reason for not liking Fluttershy's recommendation.

On the subject of "why didn't others know that Daring Do is real?", I thought of a few possible things. One is that perhaps she does mix in some things that aren't real adventures with the real ones, or add some details/leave out some details. She does go by a pseudonym as a writer, perhaps some of her adversaries are given pseudonyms as well, mixed in with ones who are called by their real names to make it harder to tell which is which. People have mentioned the example of the fictional Dracula versus his real-life inspiration, there is also the example of the book Gullivers Travels. Most of the places Gulliver visits are fictional, with the exception of Japan, which would have also seemed strange and exotic to the English readers of the time the book originally came out. I would also note that ponies do not have the internet or even telephones (Spike's method of sending letters to and from Celestia might be unique to him or to ponies who live with dragons like him), nor is their world as globally interconnected as the modern real world is, so far as we can tell from the show. So even if some ponies had met Daring Do and knew she was real, they might have told a few others, but those few others that were told may have been in their own homelands, or the ones who found out were criminals who wouldn't want to reveal what they were doing as well.
not much Orion. still talking about the new info we got on your world a few days back.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.I thought of this too, but the problem is that there's no evidence of this. Everything seen onscreen matches up and Twilight and RD were able to deduce the plot and temple location just from their knowledge of the books. So at the very least, the names and all the important events are accurate.

Personally I don't want Scoots to fly if possible, but accept her problem and try to make the best of it, assuming the episode will delve that deep. It seems more a CMC starring Scootaloo episode, rather than something on the level of Sleepless in Ponyville. Still, Diamond and Spoony mocking her in the clip gives me hope.
