A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

We've never seen anyone actually sent to a dungeon, and Daring Do probably isn't big on the law either. I have a feeling that at worst they'd get a stern talking to.
Mario would be a better example. I was thinking of stuff like mountains randomly appearing outside of Springfield or the nuke plant chaning location, but the Simpsons does have a surprising amount of continuity nods for a show built on Negative Continuity.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, if anything Celestia would just put everything in a museum and tell Ahuizotl to knock it off.
Reaction Image RepositoryWell if the information blockade goes both ways, maybe she doesn't know about Celestia?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayHow would she not?
And, yes we've never seen anypony get punished, but we've never actually seen a pony who fucked up big, was a constant threat to others, and unrepentant about it. We've seen that Celestia isn't shy about stopping ongoing threats, so she would do something to stop those ponies if they were dumb enough to make themselves more well known.
But that's what appears to have happened.
By the way, does anyone have a Nexus phone?

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Luminous It's only a theory but if it's correct basing on the fact that she has to keep her line of work a secret to the public and has to keep her identity a secret as well it's only fair that she might not see much of Ponyville.

"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus PrimeNo, it doesn't appear that way.. at all.
Again shit happening way the fuck out of nowhere, in areas that very few if any ponies ever go, yeah not hard to see it being secret.
Hell how often have the Mane 6 saved all of Equestria while being right in the heart of it and had huge freaking ceremonies in the capitol commemorating it.. and yet nopony ever recognizes them?
How is it harder to believe nopony realizes this shit is going on way the hell out in the middle of nowhere?
Ummm and how does that effect her not knowing about, you know, the pony that ruled the entire nation since before Daring was born and she would have grown up knowing about?

But isolation is a two way street. If they're isolated enough for noone to have heard of them, then the same applies the other way.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayBecause the mane 6 aren't the subjects of a bestselling uberpopular book series?
@Seraphem: There's no indication that Daring Do is limited to the obscure area around her cottage. Chances are a good chunk of her adventures take her to much more heavily populated areas. She's basically a ponified Indiana Jones type of character, and he ended up running through large population centers quite often. Just because her living area is isolated doesn't mean that everything she's involved in is isolated.
My entire point is that the degree of isolation itself isn't plausible; given the scale of what her adventures are probably like, the idea that nobody in Equestria has ever heard of any of it is a bit much.

Reaction Image RepositoryIt's not like they're living in a black hole where information can only go in, not out.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWe've seen the plots of two books, both took place in isolated, out of the way jungles. And going with Indy, those all took place in foreign countries, so she might run around heavily populated areas in the gryphon kingdom, Saddle Arabia, all over, just areas where her books aren't as well know or popular. She simply doesn't do anything in Equestria proper, since well, odds are Ahui would want to avoid that kind of thing. He has enough issues with just Daring.
True. The difficulty is that we don't really know enough about everything else she does to know whether or not others would know of it. Although given that the temple where they confront Ahuizotl is apparently relatively close to Equestria (they were able to get there on foot/hoof presumably within a few days), so if it's not in Equestria, it's in the next country over.
Reaction Image RepositoryEven if it were in a foriegn country, pyramids blowing up all the time would still make the news.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThere's also the fact that many of these places are more than likely mythical or mysterious to Equestria at large, similar to the elaborate and fanciful tales about Africa in the 19th century. So even if a lot of Daring's books are true, ponies might just dismiss a lot of it as fiction, which for all they know it is.
In the very least, Daring would probably have to go to the bigger population centres in order to gather information on those mythical locations. She's also the kind of pony who would want to have her ear to the ground and Celestia's name would more than likely turn up at some point.

Actually no they don't. When your enemy has essentially published all your crimes for everyone to see, you have as much incentive to lay low as your enemy does since revealing her would earn her a lot of allies and resources she does not normally have as well as alienate you from resources you may have otherwise been able to obtain and makes sure that everyone is on the look out for you.
